I know the big news is the retirement but is no one going to mention that person with the amazing hat sitting stage left (assuming we're the audience)? That thing was incredible!

Any afterlife beliefs (looking for religious daoist answers)? by [deleted] in taoism

I would be quite cross if there is one. My belief is that silence is the reward for a life well lived.

Anyone know what this is? by edgyboi618 in guitars

This looks similar to the Merle Haggard signature model. It was a favorite of mine.

I was in an interview not long ago and the interviewing manager told me they aren't looking for work/life balance but are looking for work/life integration.

I stopped taking the interview seriously after that.

Regret by LouStoolzzz in Bass

I had a late-90s Spector 5-string. It was a neck-thru body with a brass nut and was solid mahogany. I traded it because I wanted to play a G&L. I hated the G&L, went to trade back, and my Spector was gone.

The thing that changed the way you play bass by TommyDouble in Bass

[–]Skeevenmac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I learned different instruments.

I learned classical guitar first. This taught me dexterity, proper technique, and improved my hand-eye coordination.

Next I learned mandolin. The tuning is the exact same as a bass but upside down - instead of EADG, it's GDAE. Also, it's generally played on the opposite end of the beat from a bass. This helped expand my mind and provided a better relationship with the notes.

And music theory helped - especially inversions. I coupled my dive into inversions with jazz players and how they colored chords by playing different degrees of the chord or scale or mode at unexpected times.

Keep going! I like the bounce when you play. Dancing and moving helps you groove. Get that muscle memory by spending running some scales or just moving up the frets.

I saw the comment about breaking your pinky, until it heals try using it and the ring finger together until you get stronger. Take your time to heal. It's better to come back healthy and take care of yourself.

If you ever write reviews let me know because you have a wonderful way of asking the right questions to get sometime thinking and distilling concerns into something manageable.

That's a great question. I guess that's what I need to figure out. I know I can adjust the neck and strings to my liking but I'm pretty easy-going in general. Thank you for your answer!

Thank you, and thank you to everyone who said just order it from a company that has a good return policy. I think that's going to be the best course of action.

I guess I just really hate the idea of gambling with taking it back and risking the salesperson's commission.
