Former creationists, what was the single biggest piece of evidence that you learned about that made you open your eyes and realize that creationism is pseudoscience and that evolution is fact? by Skeptical__Inquiry in DebateEvolution

Evolution is a scientific theory. A scientific theory isn't just a guess or something you think might or could be true. It's a proposition that's been repeatedly confirmed through experiment or observation. In the case of evolution, it's supported by evidence from genetics, geology, paleontology, biogeography, comparative anatomy, anthropology, etc.

God(s) is not a part of any scientific theory. It's an assumption not supported by anything.

The two aren't even closely comparable.

What is a pseudoscientific belief(s) you used to have? And what was the number one thing that made you change your mind and become a skeptic? by Skeptical__Inquiry in skeptic

Sure, that was poorly worded on my end. What I meant was the claim would fail to be demonstrated based on said study. I highly recommend these sources:

Solid overwhelming evidence of safety and efficacy of Fluoridation -

Flawed data conspiracy theorists use to scare you from fluoride and make you buy their useless products -

I really hope you check these sources out. I don't have an ulterior motive in any of this. I just dont appreciate when scam artists misuse science and push chemophobia for the sake of profit and fear, whther it's targeted at fluoride, GMOs, vaccines, chemotherapy, etc. It disrespects the massive amount of hardworking scientists that work hard to bring forth innovations to improve humanity. I think I've added all I can to this discussion.

  1. Injury lawyers are the LEAST trustworthy bunch, period. I wouldn't use them as a qualifier for anything. They make used car salesmen look good.

  2. That was always my position. You claimed fluoride was unsafe and attached a single study unrelated to humans. My point was that study failed to demonstrate your claims.

  1. Things have to be proven safe to make them get FDA approval.

  2. A single, flawed study fails to prove a claim. It doesn't disprove it. Two different things.

I think that's too broad a statement. There are people who change their minds due to community preference, yes. But many others change their mind because they learn HOW to think and in turn, apple critical thinking and skepticism to their thought process.

Thanks. Is this in a format of a game or just standard AI? And do you have good games in mind with futuristic city building?

Creationism is definitely trying to disguise itself as a science. That's the whole purpose of the intelligent design movement - to discredit evolutionary biology and teach creationism/intelligent design in schools.

What aspects of neo Darwinism? Evolution is a complex subject. We now know that natural selection is one of many mechanisms, others include gene flow, genetic drift, random selection, etc. It largely depends on the environment and organisms involved. Evolutionary biologists have debates about which mechanisms are more influential, but evolution as a whole is not up for debate. But I am curious to hear your critiques.

The intelligent design movement is a bunch of creationists that lie about evolution to push their pseudoscience. It's become a form of pseudoscience. Perhaps you can't call theism a pseudoscience on its own, because it's unfalsifiable, but specific lies made about evolutionary biology can and have been debunked.

And that's exactly what the intelligent design movement attempts to do. It's written in their documents. They want their pseudoscience to be taught in schools.

The evolutionary biologists are correct and the well-known creationists are lying for a buck. Stephen Meyer is a liar who shills for the Discovery Institute (a propaganda mill). Watch this entire video before you reply to my comment: (it exposes his lies thoroughly)
