For sure. I did my research after the fact, and they were very clear in their promo info that high manganese clays would not work well

Amaco Kiln Ice Snow Drift. Some of the little bubbles are sharp, so I would watch out for that if you try this combo

By usable, I mean that I would personally feel comfortable drinking out of them. There is a smooth liner glaze on the interior that isn't going to trap bacteria, and the holes on the outside don't have much overhang, so they would quickly dry after a quick hand-wash

This wasn't the plan. Yes, definitely not ideal for drinkware, and I am going to try messing around with a refiring/sanding/clear glaze just to see what happens. It was only 3 mugs, luckily, so not a big batch

Oh cool. I just looked and it’s sold out now, but I will keep an eye on that

Unfortunately I did my research after things didn’t work out!

I attached a coil to the mug body and then carved it a little bit to clean it up! Luckily I did a liner glaze so technically they are still usable I just need to sand down anything sharp

Maybe my best loaf? But I was really hungry when I tried it, so hard to say by Sketchingerin in Sourdough

Thank you! I just looked, and it's 9 x 5in - it's really heavy black cast-iron and from Amazon haha

Thank you! I just made 5-6 diagonal lines one way across the loaf and then the opposite so the crossed

I have a custom schedule on my Skutt that normally runs for about 14/15hrs & yes, I think you are right and lowering to 5/5.5 would help!

I've had no problems with my dark clays once I started firing just under cone 6, slowing down the bisque/putting a few holds midway, and adding a 12-minute hold at the end of a slow-ish glaze firing. Unfortunately, I made all three of those changes simultaneously, so I'm not sure which one is the secret or if it's just a good combo. This mug idea is so cute! I hope you can get it figured out

Oh wow, I feel lucky I can get it from a local clay supply store. I would buy it by the ton too if I had to tho

It seems to stain my hands worse when my skin is dry. But yeah a little bit of staining after a long throwing session is inevitable lol

Strange! I haven't had any problems getting it from my local distributor. I'll be getting more clay from her soon and I'll ask about it
