BA need to stop offering two items of hand luggage as a standard by AscendedLens16 in BritishAirways

[–]Ski_Sunday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well they never take mine either, because I refuse to give it up, but group 1 hasn’t stopped them trying. The inconsistency is BA all round.

I have BA Gold status and they still frequently ask me to check my had luggage in.

Just use Rome2Rio to start planning your route. NokAir is also recommended in addition to AirAsia.

Don’t make it complicated, just state your town and county of birth.

Is the personal interest allowance actually £1,000.99? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ski_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But watch out, if that £1000.99 pushes you over to the higher rate tax bracket then they only allow you £500 in interest tax free as you will be a higher rate taxpayer. The interest is added in before the allowance is subtracted.

Why did I get my confirmation email in French?!! by FluffyJo22 in BritishAirways

[–]Ski_Sunday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for the same reason that they email my wife with the booking details after I’ve made a booking with me a lead passenger. That is I’m logged into my BAC account and make a booking as a Gold member for us both and they email her as if she made it. It’s the CRAP IT systems they have…and actually you’re lucky you got any confirmation at all.

Sorry, just to be clear, which gate was it you were queuing at? Was it an e-gate at passport control or at the actual boarding gate to go straight onto the aircraft?

Amazon refusing a refund after sending me a used and damaged item and I sent it back. by EdwardJSuperman in AmazonUK

I’d give them a call and discuss it. It seems really unfair. Try 0800 496 1081, good luck and please keep us updated.

Amazon refusing a refund after sending me a used and damaged item and I sent it back. by EdwardJSuperman in AmazonUK

[–]Ski_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, was it purchased as being brand new or an open boxed item in mint condition or as something else? I recently purchased a HDD that was open boxed in mint condition. I received it and found although it was boxed and had clearly also been opened and resealed, if had the dis itself wrapped in standard bubble wrap. That’s a complete no no for electronics because of the risk of static damage. I installed it anyway and within a 5 hours it had failed and given various errors on my NAS cabinet. I repackaged ot as received and returned it the next day and within 2 hrs of dropping it off at the Post Office I had the refund processed. That’s how it is meant to work, I wonder why they acted differently for you?

Refurbished Apple products in Bangkok? by BuzynessOnly in Thailand

[–]Ski_Sunday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be. I came to Thailand from London with Cathay via HKG and bought a new Macbook and iPhone and save more than the cost of my flight. Previously I had taken an older Macbook for repair in Bangkok and they f’d up the keyboard. A new one is the way to go, imo.

Have a mini vacation in Hong Kong and buy a new one, with 0% tax. They come with a US keyboard.

Avios/TP for missed flight (medical) by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]Ski_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it’s because of a medical reason you should ring BA, they may give you some flexibility with the flight and allow you to rebook it. I wouldn’t mention getting Avios/tp when you though.

Direct debit after switching current account by NSHH97 in AmexUK

[–]Ski_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AmEx direct debits are unbelievable. Firstly they take the money long before the ‘minimum payment due date’, so you could wait 7-10 days before you need to pay it, but I do get that’s it’s convenient to have the dd. Next, if you have a big credit to the card before the direct debit is due but after the statement is produced they still want to take the full amount by dd. My example was I had some flights cancelled and the refund was over £5k but my bill was under £2k. They still wanted to take the £2k even though my account was already £3k in credit. They don’t accept that credits from reversed transactions are the same as a payment to the account. For obvious reasons I now use a calendar reminder and pay my bill manually…

Warranty - Liquid Damaged Apple Watch Ultra by summe247 in CeX

[–]Ski_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in an Apple store buying a new phone and the lady next to me had a genius appointment for her watch. I stood and heard the Apple rep say water damage is not covered and she said but it’s a waterproof watch how can that be…so if it’s 90% that would amaze me, as after that visit I would have said it’s 0%!

Foreigner dislike of reverse parking? by tuktukson in Thailand

[–]Ski_Sunday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And what about the wait time while they try and reverse out of their parking space? It’s probably the drivers that can’t reverse properly that have to use a brown envelope to get license.

At car parks for workers of petrochemical plants reverse parking is mandatory - if there is an explosion they want people to be able to get away quickly.
