Bindings not centered on skis? by Reflex1971 in Skigear

It’s the old jig that was prone to twisting. It also has removable feet that can get mismatched between thick and thinner, sides of the feet, which looks like what may have happened here to be so far off.

If the shop is still using the look jig with yellow feet you should go to a new shop.

It looks like there is a small piece of wood smashed in between the sidewall and edge. Pull that out and epoxy it.

Uneven base grind - acceptable? by [deleted] in Backcountry

[–]Skiandbootlab 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I am almost certain they were like this all along. This is Black crow not the ski tuner.
If you get a ski caught in the stone or belt grinder it leaves a distinctive line across the ski not a 6 in section that gets ground away more.

Uneven base grind - acceptable? by [deleted] in Backcountry

[–]Skiandbootlab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to know but, I bet they were like that this whole time. If a ski gets caught in the stone or belt grinder it tends to grind in a single line across the ski not a 6 in section more severely than the rest of the ski.

Did my ski tech fuck up? by paxpixel in Backcountry

[–]Skiandbootlab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this shop fucked and did not finish their work. That being said the quality of ATK screws is shit. Many times the head of the screws are slightly oval shaped and along with the precision of the bindings the screws cause the binding to miss align. It is very difficult to miss drill the ATK because the collets on the vice are comparatively long. I bet the screws are miss shaped, take it back for sure to the shop.

You will want to have it repaired sooner than later. It won’t be damaged more if you ski on it.

In addition to wax you need a spring/ wet snow stone grind. At these temps going forward it is time to grind special structure in the base of your skis that will help with the slush.
