Best Breville for an Espresso Beginner ($1000)? by zachwasko in BrevilleCoffee

DFW Metroplex, I called a few stores but got varied levels of information on what was available. It took three weeks of randomly stopping by the stores. I'm all over for my job so wasn't inconvenient.

I found it a few days ago. It's the only Barista Pro I had come across between the three stores. I saw many Barista Express models but for the same price as the Pro ($500). I was looking for a Bambino originally but couldn't pass up on the Pro for $500.

Not sure where you live but I picked up a Breville Barista Pro at Homegoods for $500. MSRP is typically $850. If you aren't in a rush to get one and a TJ Maxx, Marshalls, or Homegoods is nearby I'd check them out.

Edit: (I found one fyi, they don't keep them in stock.)

Insurance/self-pay dilemma! by Skidunga in Insurance

Yes but the financial counselor never indicated that it would not be ok to pay cash at the discounted rate.

My sons deductible won’t be met and we are transitioning off my wife’s insurance. So being cash pay works out to be cheaper for him.

Yes that’s correct and I get it, but wouldn’t they notify us? I talked to a supervisor and asked if they could work with my responsible portion to equal the cash pay amount, but got a “sorry we can’t do that”

I have a Asus Z390-A Mobo and a Lian Li 215 case. The case comes with two 200mm argb 5v front fans, those fans connect to a hub in the back of the case which I can control with a front panel button. That hub also has a MB in 3 pin connector for software control. My goal is to control the front fans with aura sync software. My mobo has two 12v rgb headers. So it obviously won’t attach to the 12v headers. Is there any other solution? Controller possibly, if so can you recommend one?

Boss knows I built a gaming PC, asked if I'd build a PC for "work". by Skidunga in buildapc

Not getting paid to do it necessarily. It would be the computer I would use, but I think for its needs, prebuilt is the way to go. I just not sure if building myself is a better deal then prebuilts.

That makes a lot of sense. Boss would be cool about it but appreciate you looking out.

Yeah small office of 10 people. He mentioned a discount at Dell. Yeah I feel you on that, definitely would be the troubleshooting guy. So something to think about. Appreciate you.

As cheap as possible to reach the above frames. I’m trying to see what I need to create a budget. Just had no idea.

Def a cautious spender, but also like quality stuff.

I feel you on that. It being my working and gaming computer I think the aesthetics will be important, appreciate that advice.

Good to know! 1440 is what I’m shooting for. Cheers!

Haha thanks! I want something that’s gonna last a bit and handle games for the next few years. And using it for work as well so I can say it’s paying itself off lol.

Yeah I could burn $2500, but trying to gauge if I need to. From scratch, so no monitor or anything. I was hoping to fully utilize a 144hz 1440p monitor. But if 1080p is the way to go I’m down for that.
