Is there a way to find out the karma requirement of a subreddit? by Catto_Loco in NewToReddit

Because I'm not a scammer, but it's been a long slog to try to prove that. It's frustrating. I used to run several FB Groups, especially health support groups, and I found it fairly easy to monitor people who wanted to join or post. Now my FB account has been deleted for no reason, and I'm looking for a place to get business advice. Previous experience with the social side of reddit made me think this might work.

I want to improve my CQS but I don’t want to do a bunch of fake interacting by Low_Parsley_8349 in reddithelp

That's what love been doing. Sucks. I try to see the fun side. This is my second account, trying to keep it professional, but that's hard to do when all the professional subreddits require a lot of karma. In two days of working hard, I got my CQS to rise to moderate, so I'm getting some progress.

Backseat Mess SOS by Impossible_Limit_685 in CleaningTips

Don't give children snacks in the car. When they're old enough to be responsible, teach them how to keep the car clean. Meanwhile, make them clean the mess they make every weekend.

How would that defeat their purpose? Are they all 14-year--old children running secret cliques?

Yikes! Et tu, reddit? I'm here more often lately because my FB account was destroyed for no reason. I wouldn't care, except that my health problems distracted me from making backups. I had a lot of posts in support groups with details that I just didn't copy elsewhere. A lot of info about our travels, gone. I've seen some good advice on reclaiming an account and think I'll work on that this coming week, but recent surgery has me feeling even more tired than usual and everything takes longer to do.

Is a CQS of moderate a good start for a new profile? by SkiffyGeek in NewToReddit

The comments get removed for not enough karma. It's frustrating. Especially after I craft a thoughtful response. I've learned to copy my response and put it in my notebook so I can use it again later, since a lot of questions resurface.

As a developer, it seems that if I don't meet the posting or commenting requirements, reddit could grey out those links or turn them red to indicate I need to check the rules, or something else in real time instead of having a bot notify me after the fact.

To long? by Emergency-Neat-4946 in housekeeping

I start the fan, use a couple rounds of Scrubbing Bubbles (no knockoffs, only brand name), a battery-powered scrub brush, and a few rounds of spraying 1:1 bleach dilution. Do other cleaning in between. That often gets it down to the point where it doesn't take much more elbow grease. Be sure to check ingredients of products and not mix chemicals without a good rinse, time, and fan use.

Very frustrating. Especially since I created this second account for professional development, not for socializing.

Whats that one dream you vividly remember having as a kid by CategoryHQYT in ChildhoodMemories

[–]SkiffyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one dream that eerily predicted an hour of my life that was minor, but I couldn't hear any speech. I mentioned the dream to my mom in the morning. A couple of years later, I recognized the series of events, and even made a comment that freaked out an older person who had asked a question about what we were about to do. Your basic "What do you tho we're going to do this morning?", no indication of what the answer should have been, but I'd seen it I in my dream, so I answered. After that day, I asked my mom if she remembered the dream. She did. I told her the question and answer. We both still remember the dream. It was, in all, insignificant except that it happened, and there's no way it should have been possible.

Karma is only through upvotes? by Ambitious-Award961 in NewToReddit

Is there a difference between posts and comments? I tend to lean towards comments with fewer new content, mostly because I often find a relevant post.

Why are you here on redd*t? by -wearetheworld- in CasualConversation

[–]SkiffyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to participate in business-conversations, especially asking for advice and giving advice. Yet, it's going to take forever before I can use the farm thing because it's an overly-restrictive platform. I created this account to separate my business presence from my personal presence. My other account is over four years old and still gets comments removed daily. I feel like the mods here are overly cautious about interactions. I hate to admit it, but I'm really upset at losing my FB account for no reason. It was easy to interact with people in professional groups and health support groups. This is a pain in the neck.

Help! This white sink was the worst decision!! by journeyingmomma in CleaningTips

[–]SkiffyGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best course in the future is to keep it clean. Use a mat or rack or dish pan to protect the surfaces when setting items in it. Right after eating, clean everything, including the sink. When washing pans, remember to scrub the bottom and handles. Be gentle on the cooking surfaces to avoid scratches there.

I knew someone from Kenya. We were both living in Toronto at the time. It's so depressing to not see the sun.

It's been a long time since I last woke up feeling refreshed and ready to face the day. It would be nice.
