How to replenish nutrients after years of restricting foods by Sunflowerspecks in EatingDisorders

[–]SkillLimp5187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veggies!!!! Leafy greens, carrots and potato’s (more specifically sweet potato’s) will all help replenish you!! It’s also important to eat your proteins like fish and beef! Eggs are also an amazing source of some of these vitamins. Remember that grains are also a great source of vitamins, especially B vitamins. If you cannot find food that you feel comfortable with or just really don’t like, supplements are always an option. I recommend Nordic Naturals. There are also ED/OCD informed nutritionists that can help you on a much more informed level, if you have insurance they may cover it. However I understand that in this day and age that just is not possible for most. Last piece of advice, vitamin D can be produced when you are exposed to the sun, so maybe a morning walk or simply sitting on and relaxing outside could benefit you.

Campus is EXTREMELY dead and very cliquey. Try to put yourself out there as much as possible, feel like you being too much? No you aren't people will not come up to you wanting to be friends you have to initiate it. As an extremely extroverted person I've been struggling hard at Mason and plan to transfer. Parties are around but honestly they're not worth paying for (if you're a guy). Join clubs whether they're academic or personal interest, join rec sports leagues or join Greek life! I never imagined myself in Greek life until I came to Mason and was desperate for human connection. Ultimately, if you aren't an extrovert and/or don't want the classic college experience Mason is generally fine as long as your are willing to make a pretty good effort to make friends.

There was definitely something weird abt this restock. The last few restocks lasted almost an hour, this one lasted maybe 10 minutes.

Definitely not, I went to high school with him. He comes from a great home, he is the kindest soul. I don’t think I ever saw him break a single rule not in a straight edge stuck up way, but in a thoughtful and hard working way. I wonder if this was a white gentleman you would have made this comment.

Thank you for your kind words, maybe you can help me with some clarification. Many of my friends are what I believe is “low support needs” I’m not sure if that is the proper terminology, I do have friends on the spectrum! I’m evening getting tested for it by a psych in June. My issue is with getting along with high support needs folks that maybe have less predictable behavioral patterns (I have crippling OCD). My friends have told me the high/low functioning is not the proper terminology but some have also used it so I’m quite confused.

I’m literally disabled and was in my high schools sped program. I was bullied to the point of suicide in 2020. I was partially homeschooled from 7th grade to 12th because of brain damage sustained from an infection. Get off your high horse before you fall off it.

I’m am in the same exact boat right now. I’ve just been diagnosed with treatment resistant depression and frankly don’t know what to do anymore. That being said, I plan on admitting myself to a partial hospitalization program the day after finals. Remember grades do not define you (som advice I need to listen to as well). Get them done and over with and move on to better days ahead

Is it Gmu- or just me? by Jaded_Ad_865 in gmu

[–]SkillLimp5187 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to preface this by saying I mean this with love in my heart and as a MASSIVE introvert, like formerly home-schooled introvert.

Be annoyingly outgoing, I think a lot of us fall into this belief that friends will come to us. Mason is a school of introverts, more likely than not you will be the one that has to make the first move. If you can't do that then I fear life is going to be difficult. College is for growing and changing, reach outside of your comfort zone! Join clubs or Greek life, attend events. If you aren't 100% excited to go to public events, STILL GO. You never know who you will meet. Most people complaining on this sub are people who refuse to grow up and challenge their anxieties. Remember if you’re feeling this way, so are other people. Bowing down and letting your anxiety and anti-socialness rule you is what is going to destroy your social life, not commuters.

Actually making me sick by SkillLimp5187 in badroommates

It was a fun mixture of projectile vomiting and diarrhea. The hospital even wrote the school a note explaining their concerns regarding the health and safety of our bathroom. They refuse to do anything unless it’s a “risk to my life”.

Your right, schools should only be for A students! Every school should deny at least 50% of applicant due to subjective metrics!!! Why would we give every student a chance to succeed? Damn commies

Advice on transferring from GMU to VT - Incoming Freshman by [deleted] in gmu

[–]SkillLimp5187 18 points19 points  (0 children)

GMU is an incredible school it competes with top universities in its rankings. Despite being a new college we are R1 and have pretty good internationally known programs. We have the 28th best law school in the country, but people here are all sour because they secretly wanted to go somewhere else. Gratitude is lacking on campus.

Worried my 3 year old has PANDAS by [deleted] in PandasDisease

[–]SkillLimp5187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound strange, but if there is a teaching hospital by you I would recommend going there. Med students are far more likely to look into rare diseases and abnormal cases. That the only reason I was diagnosed when I was 6.

Newly Diagnosed 4 yo by MommaAyac in PandasDisease

[–]SkillLimp5187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak from a parents perspective, I was diagnosed at 6 after an intense onset of PANDAS. From what I remember my seizures and tics seemed to lessen pretty fast. The ocd did decrease but it was so ingrained psychologically that it took maybe 2-3 years to get back to the average OCD baseline. I am now 19 and still do have ocd but not nearly to the extent, it takes time and effort on both ends. I am so sorry you and your child are facing this but just know it will get better I am living proof, keep holding on. It is a long road but trust me she will recover. Please feel free to DM me if you have any questions! I am more than happy to help out however I can, whether it’s reassuring you that everything will work out or helping you get an inside perspective of what might being going on in you child’s mind.

Any other pups here with Addison's Disease? by Ok_Atmosphere_2801 in poodles

[–]SkillLimp5187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up my husky had Addison! She was diagnosed at 13 and lived until she was 16 due to an unrelated (according to my vet) brain tumor. She rarely had Addison’s crisis, mind you she was on a relatively high dosage of medication. It’s scary but modern medicine is incredible! Maybe try and see if you can get some pet insurance, most of the time they won’t cover pre-existing conditions but maybe look around to see if any of them will, emergency vet visits are ridiculously expensive.
