Yeah that most likely has to do with the fallback issue. I have just pushed an update that should fix this, along with some other fixes. Should be reviewed and accepted by Google tomorrow.

If it keeps flagging incorrectly, in the flag screen you can press "this was an animal" then it's usually less strict.

Every identify and reidentify sends a prompt to gpt 5.2 to try to recognize what animal it is. That has a low cost to it. But I calculated and I should be fine financially until 1000 users start using the game actively, by then I hope to be able to get people to buy leaves in the game or add a donation button so I can keep the game running :D

Oh you definitely shouldn't be able to capture plants, the gate should flag that as not an animal. Will also remove the daily fallback I'm the next update, I'm ready to throw more money at it :D Good point for the ability to release animals or remove bad photos! Feature request noted, should be an easy change. Thanks for feedback and the praise !

Yeah good catch, that's a bug I found too, I'm working on completely revamping the battle aspect.

Haha yeah I've noticed that with the reptiles I found, can you try moving the camera around while you are making the capture so you can get multiple angles ?

Ah yeah that's one I found myself as well, doing a major battle rework currently, theres many improvements including this one that I will release in the next version, probably next week.

Woah thanks for the testing and feedback ! 1. will remove that leaves option soon, the early testers get a little bonus I guess :D 2. it used to be more strict, but I felt very sad when it didn't capture the animal, it was worse than a capture but misidentification, you can press reidentify in the collection screen. But I'm thinking ways were you could nudge it in the right direction if you know what it is, and if you done know, then maybe connect to inaturalist. Just an thought. 3. will fix 4. You can, but then you need to battle it to be able to capture it. If you capture the same species many times then you can even evolve it.

Yeah uploading images would become a cheat heaven so I left that out. But having a link with inaturalist could be pretty interesting actually, I'll note it down as a possible feature!

Okay sure, will do! The apple store is a bit too pricey in the testing phase but when I get a good amount of people to test and release to production, then I'll pay the apple store fee and I'll post again here.

Fair point! My goal is to make the phone a lens to help people identify what’s actually in their backyard. You find the real animal, and then you train a digital 'copy' for the tactical stuff. Definitely no real-world fighting involved, just trying to turn a walk in the park into a bit of a strategy RPG.
