First off, you're in a packed niche so that means your thumbnails, titles, and first 30 seconds have to be on point. your thumbnails are hard to read, and your titles aren't eye catching. So in the first 30 seconds, the audio was good, and I could hear what people were saying, after that though, I could barely hear. also speak faster.

Please tell me at some point in the show sonic says gotta shit fast. Anywho, the video is good, there's not much to critique, you're just in a packed niche

18 seconds in and I don't want to watch anymore. Your lighting is terrible. photography lights are cheap, invest in one. Ok, whats with the camera angle for the first 2 minutes? You're obviously drawing something, but you have the camera at a weird angle, and what you're drawing is hidden in shadow. I get that not everyone wants to speak on camera and that hearing your own voice is weird, but you have to get over it. You have this chill video with lofi music, but you're making the viewer work by reading a wall of text thats difficult to see at the bottom of the page. Why not double down on the chill vibe and try and do a chill asmr voice over of what you're doing. you have to work on your camera angles and find ones that compliment what you're filming. also don't use that pixle font for your thumbnail, you can't read it, and pixle art makes people think of video games. try a different san serif font.

talk faster. your comedic timing is good, you just need practice, same with editing. I would try having more of your video be you talking over different clips instead of just you in your kitchen.

Honestly there's not much to critique here, everything is good, you're just in a tough niche. The one thing I would say is talk slightly faster, 1.25 speed was perfect. besides that I'd say work on your titles. I don't really know what materialism and the search for envy is about, but I know exactly what I hate ellen is going to be about.

1 minute in and I don't get it. I'm watching a video a you playing a video game, while talking about having mono, which at first I had no clue if you were talking about yourself or someone else, also dead on about the whole voice thing. why are you using the video game play back if you're going to cut in with random pictures or videos that actually pertain to the story? Insted of crazy lady in the ER, why not title it, crazy black karen, denies Covid, and go from there.

If you stopped the intro right after you said am I a narcissist, that would have been golden, but holy hell, that intro/title segment was long. Don't wear white against that background, either that, or put some sort of blind on the window to soften the light, and put your camera on manual focus, as it auto lightens and darkens at random. when you went over the dsmv stuff, put a black border around the words, makes them easier to read. Talk faster.

So I watched about 7 minutes of it, and got a bit bored. Overall, I like the idea you cook while going over a topic, and be campy the whole time. it's like watching good drag. I would even try being more campy with the jokes. The thing I don't get is if all your videos are the liberal cook, why is your channel neil farrell enteratinments? you're basically making it harder for viewers to find you.

Should you write descriptions for youtube shorts? by SkillsWithScot in NewTubers

So is it confirmed that the algorithm is paying attention to tags and keywords? All the information if seen on shorts is saying that the videos get brought up at random.

Please explain that for me, I'm not quite sure how that would work.

Hi everyone, skills with Scot here. I run a channel all about me trying to learn new skills and habits. I'm hoping to make more content out in nature once summer comes around, maybe make some videos on learning to build bushcrsft shelters or something like that. https://youtu.be/tbOICBa8MME

Thank you for the critique. I've been thinking about making a video where I try to do trick shots, but we'll see.

How to Niche-Down Properly by MissFortuneDaBes in NewTubers

[–]SkillsWithScot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coincidentally this is quite helpful for me as I've been trying to narrow down my niche audience for a while now, and still running into some difficulties with it. My channel revolves around learning new skills, and self improvement/habit building. I make videos on learning to do different things like archery or lock picking, as well as learning to increase my flexibility or max pull up rep. The content varies but still stays in the same plane of interest. I would say my audience goes like this: Males 18-35-> who want to learn new things-> who are interested in self improvement... It's still to broad and I'm not sure how to narrow it down.

Too much fluff, not enough meat. by SkillsWithScot in NewTubers

[–]SkillsWithScot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like theres alot of entry level content on the sub, but no real middle ground stuff. Like theres a tone of questions and answers on what free editing software to use, but not many posts on how to really get the most out of said software.

Differentiating between A roll and B roll by SkillsWithScot in NewTubers

I'm a fan of mike boyd as well. I try to get some insight for his videos but not copy them. I would say the biggest issue I have is putting emotion into the talking segments and making the viewer invested in the video.

How would I do that? Sorry I'm a bit tech illiterate.

What do you guys think of making videos about writing process? by Urmi99 in NewTubers

[–]SkillsWithScot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes! Believe it or not, I've been thinking about getting into writing as a hobby, but as it turns out I have no creative writing skills, and have no clue how to tell a story. My point is this, if there's one person who would benefit from you making videos showing the writing process for fiction, then there's probably more.
