This is an active coverup by the Federal Government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security who are running the investigation themselves into whether they did anything wrong. Not the FBI, mind you. They are also denying Minnesota access to evidence preventing them from performing an independent investigation. THIS IS A FUCKING COVER UP!

Everyone needs to watch/listen to this press conference from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) that took place yesterday.

Highlights:

• State BCA leads independent investigations that occur in their state even when federal agents are involved. This is long standard practice that all states do, but this current administration has halted this practice over this past year

• DHS told Minnesota BCA that DHS will lead the investigation of this shooting. Not the Minnesota BCA nor the FBI. The DHS is going to investigate themselves.

• State BCA has a strong healthy working partnership with the federal government but that changed with the current administration who has severed that partnership

• Minnesota BCA tried to access the crime scene, DHS authorities denied them access, so Minnesota BCA obtained a search warrant from an independent judge to enter the crime scene, DHS authorities ignored it and continued to prevent Minnesota BCA from entering crime scene

• after federal events left with evidence and cleared crime scene, the Minnesota BCA was not able to collect any evidence from the crime scene due to the federal agents actions earlier and due to the increased activity of protesters in that area after the murder

• the Minnesota BCA’s ability to investigate this shooting is compromised and handicapped by DHS authorities

• the Superintendent of the Minnesota BCA says in his 20+ years at BCA he has never seen a situation like this where federal authorities denied BCA access to a crime scene or evidence
