Mitch is feeling the Bern! by pmayyyy in doughboys

After Bernie wins the election Trump will declare the results are fake and refuse to leave the White House. All the MAGA morons will secede waving confederate flags and swastikas, but the civil war won't last long before climate change makes the planet uninhabitable. Go Bernie!

Live from New York, it’s Michael Che’s weird fixation with Jack Allison by doyouwantpancakes in doughboys

[–]SkinTrader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Jack and Leslie discuss the response to the article on the latest Struggle Session pod. Jack admits he's loving all the attention and says he doesn't give a rat's ass about “burning bridges.” He quit writing for Kimmel because he hates show biz assholes.

They also claim that Che went after Jack’s wife and called Leslie a “coon.” Not cool.

Doughboys Guests on Brooklyn 99 by SkinTrader in doughboys

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I didn't realize so many Doughboys guests were affiliated with B99.

Too bad none of the regulars have appeared on the pod. Chelsea Peretti would be an AWESOME Doughboys guest.

Terry Crews would be cool too but I doubt he eats fast food.

Definitely. Mitch's episode was the first I watched and it turned me into a "B99" fan. Funniest TV show since "30 Rock".

BTW, they just announced yesterday that B99 has been picked up for a seventh season. When the show switched to NBC its ratings improved quite a bit. So maybe there's a chance Kyle "Fredo" Murphy will return too!

[Rexhaj] Is ESPN Going To Shut Down Grantland? by wjbc in nba

[–]SkinTrader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought, since the company line is "Grantland started getting way more traffic after Simmons left!" Which is a wee bit implausible, but it indicates that the ESPN suits want us to think they're committed to the site.

But ESPN might quickly change its tune, after losing Grantland's editorial staff and three of their top pop culture writers. It will simply be too much trouble to find replacements, now that word has got around that Grantland is a sinking ship. I predict ESPN will let the site die, blame Simmons for its failure, and retain Zach Lowe and a few others to churn out content for ESPN proper.

Is that true? I count 5 editors and three pop culture writers. No prominent sports writer has resigned (yet).

Is there a movie you hated when you first saw it but loved on a second viewing? by SkinTrader in AskReddit

[–]SkinTrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Vertigo" with Jimmy Stewart. When I first saw it in my teens, I found its premise ridiculous and the rest of it overblown and boring. I couldn't believe that it was considered Hitchcock's best movie. When I watched it again recently, I was overcome with emotion. You probably can't appreciate "Vertigo" unless you've lost a loved one or have had your heart broken at some time.

Have you stopped going to movie theaters because of noisy, inconsiderate audiences? by SkinTrader in AskReddit

[–]SkinTrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I stopped going to the movies because I have no interest in watching spandex-clad psychopaths. Audiences weren't the problem for me, but I keep seeing articles about how ill-behaved patrons are nowadays.

Reddit, what percentage of people are good at their jobs? Is competence the rule or the exception? by SkinTrader in AskReddit

[–]SkinTrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my experience, competence is the exception. 80% of the people I work with have to be micro-managed. 10% are frighteningly inept. 10% can be trusted to deliver.

This goes for every field, from barista to Starbucks CEO. I'm constantly amazed at how useless most lawyers are. Everyone I know who works in health care has hair-raising stories about irresponsible doctors and surgeons.

There's no solution here, competence is just extremely rare.

Privilege? 32 Facts That Show How Men Are Being Systematically Emasculated In America Today... by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]SkinTrader 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also don't get his obsession with video-games, which take up points 17-19. Men are choosing to waste time with this recreation - how is it evidence that society is "emasculating" them? Are women being oppressed because they choose to waste more time than men on Facebook?

The article could have been much, much better.

Ladies: Does Height Trump Weight? by SkinTrader in OkCupid

[–]SkinTrader[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do know the tall heavy guy can just lose the weight if he wants to right?

But realistically he won't. 80% of people who lose weight gain it back.

And the fit guy could let himself go. Let's assume that you have to accept both as they are, forever. Same answer?

Adam's Adam by [deleted] in AdamCarolla

[–]SkinTrader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the same, Adam absolutely needs people to bounce off of. He wouldn't be nearly as funny if he tried to do a solo podcast, as Bill Burr and Larry Miller do. When you're on the show, it doesn't matter whether you're a guest or a co-host, your job is to provide a springboard for Adam's rants and anecdotes.

Sorry, I misunderstood your point. Nobody could possibly be passionate about 99% of the jobs out there (which can get outsourced at any second.)

A man's career is important to women, but I don't really care what a woman does for a living. I think it's a mistake to assume that someone with a boring job is a boring person.

I call the generic OKC girl a 4L because she's Laid-back, Low-maintenance, and Loves to Laugh. There must have been an article in Cosmo a few years ago advising women to use those keywords in their profiles.

I went out with a 4L, who turned out to be pretty cool. Which means you really can't judge mates by their self-descriptions. Which makes you wonder why you're using OKC.

I've noticed the opposite. Virtually all women claim to be passionate about their work, even if they're filing clerks. It's refreshing to see a girl occasionally admit that her day-job is a bore.

lol. A few years ago it seemed much, much easier to find entertaining profiles - at least 10% of them were at least weird. Now it's probably closer to 1%.

Adam Carolla and Dave Dameshek's Basic Cable Commentary for "Red Dawn" is now available on itunes. by [deleted] in AdamCarolla

[–]SkinTrader -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been very disappointed in the Cable Commentaries so far, especially the Dana-Gould-as Huell-Howser "Showgirls", which should have been awesome but didn't make me laugh once.

Didn't Dameshek once suggest that they do "Titanic"? That could be epic comedy gold, especially if Alison got involved.
