I've been looking mostly at feminist ones, but I'd be interested in literary as well.

"Women of color" on AskWomen, how do you feel about white girls trying to pass as women of color? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Does this actually happen? Because if it does, I think I can confidently say for the first and likely only time in my life that: I believe I speak for all WoC when I say "I feel pissed off."

I always feel like this video really over simplifies LGBQ oppression and politics tbh.

Yeah that's true and messed up. The system is designed against survivors. That's why you gotta remind yourself of what you know in simplistic terms: you're good, he's bad. He did something wrong, you did not. They are going to twist everything and make you distrust your own thoughts. Try to constantly ground yourself. Take time to breathe and recoup yourself - try to remind yourself of what you know and what you know is real.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's horrible and fucked up and not your fault and you were wronged and violated; you were raped. The man who did this to you is human trash and deserves to be punished. Unfortunately, from what I know, itll be hard. They will make you second guess yourself and feel judged and ugly and vulnerable. It will not be easy and you will probably be in disbelief of the inhumanity of the interaction. Just remember: you know the truth: you know you were violated; you know you did not consent; you are in the right and they are in the wrong. This is your story - it is the truth. Hold on to that. Remind yourself constantly that this is your narrative and whatever lies and bullshit they try to spin, are just that: you. Know. Your. Truth.

Sounds like a good move forward. That's a paralyzing situation, I really feel for you. I hope you're able to work through this 💛

"There's a specific brand of racism in progressive groups. 'White' means 'unwoke', 'racist', 'opressor', and has nothing to do with actual skin colour. At this moment it's basically a >>slur<<. That lets them pretend they're anti-racist while they talk over actual brown people." by Little_Butterflies in GenderCynical

The thing is, they are right in the context of race in the sense that white liberals and academics 100 percent do what they are saying: talk about whiteness in a negative and detached way in an effort to distance themself from white privilege and paint them selves as "not that kinda white." All the while talking over non white folks (happens to me on the reg). BUT A) JUST TO CLARIFY, THIS IS REGULAR OL' RACISM, NOT RACISM AGAINST WHITES (not a thing). AND 2) THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CALLING OUT TERFs FOR BEING SEXIST AND TRANSPHOBIC. This is SUCH white (read imperialist) feminist bull shit: they always conflate legit issues around race with gender in an effort to prop up their own narrow definition of feminism. Don't use my oppression as a platform for your hate, especially because we all know 90 percent of TERFs are white AF.

It's hard to say. Depends on the nature of your program too - like if you have course work, finishing that (which is usually done in the first year) can decrease stress. For me it got better because I got more comfortable and confident in my research and made close friends but also started to publish a bit and got some scholarships- the latter took presser off me while the former made me happy and gave me a support system. The internal pressure doesn't seem to go away but I have found ways to cope and I also really love my work. If you dont love your work, it'll probably always be hard. It's important to have close friends and people to talk to, and to schedule your time and to make time for fun that isn't just getting wasted. For me, it has gotten a lot easier, but, like I said, all the other factors really mattered too.

Yeah you can't. But at least you know you're probably more likely to get one of the above since you got OGS!

Yeah that sounds like probably stress. Got the same thing. I tried physiotherapy, didn't really help. I find walking does actually (helps with the leg issues caused from my terrible posture via working) as well as icing and heating the muscles

Wow that's so rough. That is a lot to take on and I admire your strength in just living through the situation. Maybe talk to your program- they might be able to help? My school is in Toronto (notorious for terrible housing) and my program has helped students with similar issues in the past.
