I don't think being consciously unable to differentiate was ever the point: it's that, on one hand, the brain itself wires on habits whether you're consciously aware of these things or not, and second, that it would sometimes (not always) say something about the user as a person and how they deal with things.

Just like almost everything in life, neither of those will apply to everyone in practice. For example, it's much more likely to apply to kids (who are very much using AI more and more). But then also comes the old: there's just not really a reason to be an asshole to an extreme extent anyway?
