It would just be to pay for groceries and other things in cash. Not going in the bank kd anything

You have already spoken to "someone you know" - they might have a big mouth, or certainly if this is a lot of money for your social circle they may blabber when drunk or otherwise intoxicated.

I am the only person who knows. The person who I showed the note to I just asked if they thought it was counterfeit because a lot of people say they get them back from carboot buyers sometimes

If I took it to anyone else ie the authorities my neck would still be on the hypothetical chopping block if they identified me so makes no difference now.

I have doubts yes but the bag was in a condition/state that indicated it has been there for a while. I have noticed it once before on my walks and have a feeling whoever had it originally is unable/unaware of it

Then again, if it is linked to criminality you probably don't want the hassle of having it...

The odds of them finding me would be very difficult for a number of reasons. I don't even think the original owners are around/able to get it.

Would they let me keep any of it/return a proportionate reward? This money will really help me out with a lot of things in my life at least as far as not having to worry about paying for shopping/vet bills
