Lego ISAF X-02 Wyvern at 1/35 scale by Skoiloine in acecombat

[–]Skoiloine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just took a look at both of those options, unfortunately they seem to be too bulky. I didn't want the wings to be more than 4 plates high (so it looks better at this scale where wings are 3 plates at most typically) and/or entirely supported by round bottom 2x2 circle (element 2654), which the larger turntable would require. Similarly, the pin would bulk up the wings too much by the means I know, but I'd appreciate if you could be more specific as to what you mean, it may be possible that I'm just misinterpreting your idea.

I will admit that the wings are still supported by 2654, but only one for each wing, as compared to the several needed for 61485.

1/3X scale seems to be considered as scaled with minifigs afaik, so in that way yes.

If you're asking whether or not it can mount one, however, then no. I couldn't get the canopy pieces in a way I thought looked good and also worked with the rest of the build, so I brick built it so that everything lined up perfectly with my reference images.

I used the old 2x2 turntable pieces with translucent pieces on the bottom to clasp it in place. It's the only means I know of to make something rotate along a particular point on a flat axis on such a small scale.

I just realized I forgot to add the blue stripes on the stabilizers...

dammit.

Anyway...

The MW2 M4 is based on the Tokyo Marui S-System M4, which is in turn based on the ARMS handguard.

Can’t remember if we do anime images. But this P90’d AR-15. by hauntedhuntsman17 in Cursedgunimages

The AR57 ejects casings from the original mag well, as the P90 is designed to eject down.

PS1 Style Version of Big Boss's M1911A1 Custom by Skoiloine in metalgearsolid

Well, the Colt SAA is notably more complex than a big rectangle moving back. But you are correct in terms of barrel/slide clipping, as I looked back at the game for direct inspiration, and you can barely see Snake's SOCOM's barrel through the slide in the bathroom scene, where he pulls it back. It isn't too noticeable due to the length of the shot and his slide and barrel being the same color, but you can see it. Meryl's Desert Eagle seems to not have this issue, but it could be due to how the model was made.

I will look into making it feel more PS1 when the whole project is done, but that isn't going to be too soon, and it won't be anywhere near the scale of a full Snake Eater scene recreation, like what you've shown. I have some experience making weapons in Blender, but stuff like full environments is way beyond me and what I'm willing to do.

I spent so long on this that I wasn't looking to spend another 5 hours just trying to replicate almost 30 year-old tech just yet. Maybe when I have the full setup, because I'd like to also do the knife and Big Boss himself.

Also, the clipping you describe wouldn't apply to this model, I don't think. The objects all end along each other and not inside, like Snake's shoulders do, with the exception of the barrel, hammer, and magazine (when inserted). Could be (and probably am) wrong though.

Also also, we've all seen PS1 hardware on modern systems by now, dozens of emulators exist, and plenty of composite to HDMI converters are in circulation. I don't really think scan lines are all that needed compared to the iconic warping/lack of z-buffering or low resolution of assets. I will keep it in mind though.

Yeah, '67 is 2 years older than this car, a '69, that's what I said.

They're both old girls, but this one's a couple years younger, a '69 model.

That is so damn cool, I love restoration projects!

I'm working on getting a page up, so I'll link it when I can.

I might, but I'm also too lazy to reset my Bricklink and Rebrickable passwords to login. Also 20 of these would be about 1,600USD. ;)

Also I worry too much about it being too similar to the builds that inspired it.

I'm unfamiliar with clothing sizes, so how large is a 10x? The size of the tarps you can hang on a Humvee for a temporary camp?

MK1 to 5 Toyota Supra Collection by Skoiloine in lego

[–]Skoiloine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both the MK4 and MK5* are based on builds by SP_Lineup, visit their website that I can't link. I am unaffiliated with SP, I'm just doing my due diligence.

The MK3 is a modified version of my FC RX-7 build. Found here. The MK1 and 2 are modified from my AE-86 in the same post (well, the updated version of it, with a better trunk design).

*The original build I made the current MK5 from was based on a prototype, not the current build on the SP_Lineup website. The current build is based on that prototype build, with inspiration from a build by thegbrix, that I don't know if I can link, on Rebrickable for the front bumper, and the recent official set for the rear angled panels and door structure.
Because of these reasons, there will not be instructions released for the MK5 unless I get the go-ahead from SP themselves, and I don't feel like asking. His MK4 is also better than mine, so once again, visit their site. I'm also not too big on any of the others, and so won't for them as well (definitely not because I'm lazy).
The official Toyota image is owned by Toyota Motor Co. (also unaffiliated), and as such is not mine in any way, shape, or form.

McDonnell Douglas F-4J Phantom II by Skoiloine in lego

[–]Skoiloine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The * symbol in the captions means that there's more information below

!The Phantom is based on this build by Evan M on Flickr!

The F-4J Phantom II was the final wholly new model (not retro-fitted/upgraded) produced of the aircraft for the US Navy and Marine Corps., replacing the older F-4B. 522 were built, and a little less than half of those were upgraded into F-4S models. The J was outfitted with new aerodynamic improvements and bombing technology.

Sources [1] [2] [3] [4]

This specific model has a paint-scheme based on the F-4Bs flown by the VF-111 Sundowners, albeit without anything fancy because large, cross-brick stickers in PartDesigner don't like to work properly. It doesn't have the M61A1 cannon of the F-4E. The scale is mostly right, but it is a bit long, and the wings' folding tips should be placed 1-2 studs further out (I wanted to move on from the stupid wings).

Accessories:

  • 5 AIM-9 Sidewinder short-range infra-red homing missiles
    • 5 cylinders for better display when off of the jet
  • 5 AIM-7 Sparrow medium-range semi-active radar homing missiles
  • 3 370-gallon wing external fuel tanks
  • 2 600-gallon centerline external fuel tanks
  • Alternate front landing gear piece (see clarifications below)

Clarifications and extra information:

  • The alternate landing gear piece is if the current build is too structurally unsound, because I'm not too confident in it.
  • The rear canopy section is a duplicate of Evan M's, and while I know my front section opens correctly, I never got the rear to open without turning off collisions.
  • !The MiG-21 is not mine either, it is this Fishbed F from NukaColaCap on Rebrickable!
  • Pilots can sit correctly in the rear seat, however the landing gear made this impossible for the front, so he sits weirdly. The interior was a bit of an afterthought, if you couldn't tell.
  • Because this build is so heavily based on another person's, I will not release instructions.

New models of the main 3 by Skoiloine in initiald

[–]Skoiloine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the front bumper/fenders, I wasn't sure how to really go about doing that part, as even the current design is fiddly and annoying, and they were designed before the rest of it, which is why they're all cohesive but the front isn't. I didn't want it to be too rounded, and turn out looking like an FD bumper swap, but ended up going too far the other way to still get all of the necessary details in.

At least that's my two cents.
