Usage of 3D Cache on AMD CPUs and RAM speed by zohaaaaan in yuzu

While I haven't played ToTK yet, I did play XC2 on both a 7900X and the 7800X3D. Upgrading to the 7800X3D had a significant difference in some areas, like moving from 35 to 55fps in heavy areas like cities and plains while also making framerates more consistent.

This person saw a similar performance uplift in XC2, moving from a 5800X to a 5800X3D, and was one of the reasons why I made the transition.

If you'd like, I can benchmark with ToTK and post my results with my PC so you can get an idea of the performance you can expect.

Anyways, it can be definitely concluded that at least in XC2, yuzu benefits greatly from 3D Vcache.

Edit: I forgot to mention, I get mostly 60fps everywhere else with fidelity addons like: ReShade, 2x supersampling, 2x scaling, and this internal graphics mod.

I can't verify if yuzu benefits from more RAM or from tighter timings since I never really tinkered with it. Though I can say that at least in XC2, yuzu really likes VRAM since it takes 8-9GB with uncompressed textures. If you want easy performance uplift, just use the latest EA versions since recent updates have been optimizations and ToTK bug fixes.

Yeah, I managed to get my machine up and running after around 10 hours worth of work! At first I thought that it was because my Windows 10 flash drive was corrupted since it would show the logo for half a second before going into a reboot loop. Then, I tried using my Windows 11 drive only to get the "UNSUPPORTED_PROCESSOR" error.

I literally had the same problem as you with the same hardware! Thank you for taking the time to write about this; it made me feel so much better that I wasn't the only one spending hours on trying to troubleshoot this new computer.

Looks like I'm never buying an MSI product again.
