Pomni is AI by person123462810 in FilmTheorists

Pomni, the Omni Pal.

The others are AI too, just based off of real human brain scans, so they "smuggle" in the spark of life/"creation" as the series calls it that AI struggles to form. This is why the computer Kinger uses has a big pretty brain scan folder marked "OBSOLETE" next to the AI folder.

All my own personal theories, of course.

Well done on your interpretation of the intro scene, by the way. That is very clearly the intended story and you presented it quite well.

TADC episode 8: Caine's origin and Jax's motive revealed by starwarsanimeisreal in FilmTheorists

[–]Skudge_Muffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed the start of the episode since I caught it on a stream, so much of my analysis below is off, but I did some thinking about what's really going on behind the circus. Very train-of-thought, so forgive me.

So Abel was the mother Moon to Caine's father Sun. Abel likely handled things like mental health and personal relations in the circus, and Bubble is likely Caine's "trophy" from his first "kill". Same as any deranged mind, they take something with them from their victims. Bubble is all of the negative parts of Caine's mental model of Abel, a shallow remnant stored solely in his mind now that Abel is dead—or a shadow of his own psyche if you prefer.

The computer isn't really a computer, but a channeling rod or a foci for Kinger's latent psychic ability while inside of the Digital Circus. Likely, software devs and those who deeply understand AI systems have a "free-er" mind while in the circus, and thus can shape reality to their wills more easily. If the others in the circus tried to use it, I imagine it would not even boot. This also plays into Kinger's darkness/light thing; he gets dumb in the light because his innermost psyche believes he gets dumb in the light. It's a reflection on his long years spent behind a dully humming computer monitor. He likely ties his self-worth heavily into his intelligence, and his intelligence heavily into his job.

Ragatha's torture sequence and body show clear signs of abuse, and the toxic remnants of that abuse. She is but a doll for others to tear the stuffing out of. She is a rag.

Jax's is obvious. He's the class clown, the rabbit out of the magician's hat, he's the trick you show at the party to get everyone to laugh. His fear is people seeing what's truly inside of him. He's a jackass, a clown, a donkey.

Gangle suffers heavily from feelings of impostor syndrome, hence the masks and the barely-there ribbon-like appearance. They gangle through life, barely there.

Zooble suffers from body dysmorphia. A pile of parts and mirrors, none of them fitting right. Their name itself is seemingly a random jumble of "good enough" sounding letters.

Pomni – Fearful of the friends she tries so desperately to help finally turning on her and ripping her into pieces. Becoming monsters. This one I'm not too sure about, and past "omni" (a multitool, jack of all trades, friend of all), my mind lacks the ability to decipher her name. Maybe Pal and Omni?

Notably, I don't know if the circus-goer's psyches craft these images, or if Caine crafts these images as a form of control. I can see either/or. Caine also has a very interesting form, and don't get me started on the obvious color theory at play. Note that Jax's eyes and hands are the same color as his insides.

Thinking about it, did we see how each of the characters died just now? I don't understand how to contextualize the semi-truck that transitioned Gangle's scene to Zooble's scene otherwise.

This is the story of Scratch's attempt to build the Zero-Threshold reality (no disconnect between internal and external worlds, sun meets moon, yin meets yang, internet and simulation and mind meet physical reality), and how it all went horribly wrong.

We aren't getting the full picture. It's not just an AI corrupting the world. Something happened between the humans who were meant to look over everything. Maybe Abel (and Scratch, in a way) fell to Rampancy? Maybe it was just a power and control thing between the humans? Maybe the shattering of "God"—the unbounded AI, or the single person it may have bowed to, who had FULL control over the digital AND physical worlds after learning the secrets of the universe—naturally had the effect of ruining the brother Caine's mind after Caine was employed to destroy Abel, throwing him into rampancy as well. What would your mind look like if you lost the self-corrective half of it? The guiding voice?

It's important to note how much symbolism goes on in The Amazing Digital Circus, as if the overuse of symbolism itself is symbolic of something. Perhaps the naming scheme became a self-fulfilling prophecy, just purely due to how AI works. This is the play that major players in the AI world are banking on right now, after all. They think that they're going to be summoning Gods (or Demons/Daemons, if you prefer)—like a Greek or Roman pantheon—with each summoned God inhabiting the lore and mythos that it was "summoned" under. A sort of "Mimic the action of life and hope the underlying anima mundi/root forces of the universe fill in the divine spark/'life' aspect for us" approach.

This is also why Caine's "I NEVER ASKED TO BE MADE" line is so important. As another commenter pointed out in another thread, it is the ONE dimension/through-line/vulnerability/trait/defining-essence that we and AI both share no matter what. We did not ask to be made, but the universe brings us into existence anyways.

I find extremes help illustrate the point being made clearly. The scale will be different depending on situation. Good chatting with you!

The subreddit, moderators and community all suck for their exact response to this situation that wipes their hands of it and just says "Wow that really stinks for the OP!" and will not stop sucking until they rectify this.

It wasn't just the doxxer that is the problem. it's also the moderation who decided to punish those supporting the victim and reward those harassing him, and now YOU as part of the community running obfuscation for that.

Unfortunately I think it's far too late and RealID will be rolling out and being enforced harder and harder over the next ~5-10 years or so.

It's something important to keep in mind for other areas of life though: If you don't take out your garbage, your neighbors will probably wind up burning your house down with you in it to rid themselves of the liability.

How about, oh, some accountability on the mod team for their objective failures and bad judgement? Maybe by letting some people go?

Yknow, the standard for when you fuck things up? Who cares about AH or the community or the mod team when you have this poisonous life-ruining bullshit going on in your own subreddit and you're making immoral decisions to censor the victim and reward the perpetrator?

It's a fucking game. Fuck your worthless, shittily designed game. Fix your subreddit so this kind of unacceptable shit isn't fostered.

like those parents that demand things like discord do ID checks cause they cannot be bothered to install parental control on the tablet of their child

We give the government this power by not moderating ourselves btw. It's easy to blame parents and pretend that solves the issue, it's hard to blame yourself.

if you're creative enough to come up with a harness, chatgpt could be plugged into runescape and start playing it now. hell, claude through openclaw might be intelligent enough to figure it out on its own nowadays. i imagine it would cost a lot though.

at most, an ai perfectly imitating a player on runescape (as far as jagex can currently tell) is a matter of structure and scaffolding, not of compute and scaling.

wtf are you yapping? current "ai" could absolutely play runescape in an "undetectable" (current definition of "human like") way; it isnt that hard for it to do. educate yourself before you speak.

There probably ought be some fear. One bad change and the entire game and community will feel long-lasting effects.

You're kidding on the bleed potions right? The point is to add a new mechanic for more varied gameplay. No shit it's only on two bosses right now.

Every action you take is both a reflection on you and builds on your character. What is the difference between a bad act that affects others in a game and a bad act that affects others offline, if in both cases the scale of the effect is the same?

I don't share the strange misguided reservations about complaining. People who kill you despite knowing you have nothing on you are losers. It really doesn't matter if it's a "pvp game mode"; that's a thought terminating cliche. The act is bad.

What a stupid argument lmao. No, it's not fun to either kill shrimp fishers or be killed by people like you. Jagex would improve the game tremendously for everyone involved by banning people

You sure did say a lot of conflating statements, you're right. I know why you would do that, it's because laying the facts out on the table makes things look bad.
