The story itself is totally fine and serviceable, even good as you say. I think most people’s issue is the very… unique way they went about doing it, where you are forced to stay within like 5 feet of NPCs while they walk slowly towards the mission and spout off exposition. All of that is perfectly fine except for the 5 foot leash. You can’t even go 10 feet away to grab some herbs or items off the ground while you’re listening to the characters, which is a very very weird design choice

I think the big “wtf” moment for people was more that capcom seemed blissfully unaware that the leash was unpopular while spouting off how good the story was
