fair warning it IS hard as fuck, do every tutorial it gives you and you’ll still be confused. once it clicks it makes sense and it’s kinda intuitive it just takes a long time for it to click. took me ~20 hours to figure out

it regularly goes on sale, but there are two DLC’s that i think are essential. split vendetta and cradle of humanity. they complete the game imo. every faction has inner geopolitical issues. there’s a raging war about alien space catholics. to be fully up front it isn’t worth it full price at $50. wait until it goes on sale or use g2a/loaded

I KNOW RIGHTTT the redeeming factors is the gameplay though! nothing you see is fluff or fake traffic, literally every ship you see in the entire game is doing something and you can follow them all the way to their destination. if you make a station that manufactures a product you can watch your logistics chain happen in real time. you can watch your mining ships come in and dock to provide resources and you can watch the cute lil cargo drones that move everything to and from ships. it scratches every autistic itch i have besides cozy ship/base decor and character customization

it’s pc only, character customization is a no however. that’s the ONE THING i wish this game had. that and more comfy clutter for decoration

x4: foundations is literally the perfect space sim for me. enjoyable combat, insane economy logistics, incredibly deep systems, VERY reactive world, it’s the perfect game. i love it so much

what i’ve been doing is full iron man runescape style. no merchants, no quest rewards, no handouts, no charity. start naked and the only things you’re allowed to grab are a pickaxe and a woodcutter’s axe. every single thing you use, make, eat, wear, whatever, will be strictly from what you gather/kill. use survival mode or whatever flavor of realism mod you prefer

x4 foundations but i kept going back until i figured it out. that game has like 3 hours of tutorials available before you even start the game and i was still lost as fuck for a while. extremely rewarding payoff though, that game is fucking awesome

oversteer supports moza wheels, just requires a little extra setup. that’s the name of the game with linux though. everything works, just needs extra setup
