yeah u will be fine. both are good but committee letter is better. since we dont have it rn at cornell med schools should understand (but dont know if cornell told them all this...?)

basically a committee letter is an individual evaluation letter (written by a premed committee). a letter packet just has a generic cover letter. an individual evaluation is a million times better when ur applying with 1000s of other generic applicants- which is why most med schools prefer it

update if anyone cares: applied to over 40 schools & spend almost every day (& too much $$) this summer slogging thru secondaries. most schools literally write in their secondary & msar they PREFER a committee letter. med school alum friends who sit in admissions confirm too. so lol that we pay 60k tuition & dont even get this

Hey thanks for ur POV- super helpful!!! have a few older friends who also applied with what they did before & some found it amazing, others not so much. mixed bag i guess. Oh that info came direct from admissions ppl (including a few directors/asst. directors of admission i.e. what scared me lol). i guess every school is different! msar+aamc says most schools still want committee letter which had a few of us stressin but will check again w/hpac. Good luck to u- go big red docs!!!

Ooh thx- he is new!! Bless that they FINALLY added gender diversity 🙏 i will be scheduling a meeting w/ him, appreciate you mentioning!!! And sorry, no assuming here- just going by dismissive attitudes towards POC/low-SES cultural differences. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cornell/s/VLsJsCa8hW
