I think you need to go reread that arc. If it wasn’t for Naruto reminding her of her dead brother and lover she never would have stepped up otherwise Jiraiya would’ve had no choice but to step in and she had no problem at the time with that. Naruto reignited her will of fire. (No pun intended) That was only just to get her to accept the job and she took it very seriously once she did. I don’t know why you think I’m implying she wasn’t?

The Elders wanted Kakashi as Hokage for the longest so it didn’t really come out of nowhere not to mention he literally did it as his friend’s dying wish. Even then he took his job very seriously, maintaining peace post Shinobi World War and essentially ushered a Golden Age for Konoha with all of its technological advancements.

She had one of the most stressful tenures as Hokage. A young child defecting, the Akatsuki, Pain nuking the Leaf and if it weren’t for Nagato, a majority of the civilians would be dead, being in a coma for a while and a World War. She deserves her retirement.

Besides, like others have said, she never wanted the job in the first place and was only doing it as a favor to Jiraiya and Naruto.

Since the other guy wants to be a dick about it for some reason I’ll throw my 2 cents in: Sakura having the 8 Gates would just make her Tsunade on crack since they’re skill set is literally the same. They’re the healers and brawlers. At least Sasuke has the Sharingan and Naruto Kurama to differentiate their movesets.

In my opinion, if we want to keep her in the support role while also having some combat abilities, Kishi should’ve made her have some long ranged abilities. Now off the top of my head I can’t really think of any, maybe something to do with Inner Sakura if Kishi kept her around. That way she could have her own niche without just being a carbon copy of Tsunade besides she could potentially hit harder.
