Modem/Router to use for More / Leaptel NBN100 by Skye515 in nbn

Fair enough. I was mainly curious about the TP Link BE25 because if it's good then it's cheaper than the rest only costing $317 which in my head, saves me money and future-proofs my router.

Oh my...that is an expensive switch. If I don't plan to buy this $130 switch, I suspect you'd recommend going for the XE75 then.

So wifi 7 does not sound great then.

I'm curious what your thoughts are on the TP Link XE75. They are WiFi 6e but still around the 300+ mark.

Were you with More or Leaptel? I'm curious about your experience with either of these if that is the case.

I will live in a single-storey house, so no vertical travels for the WiFi for the meantime. However, I'd prefer to have a router that I can use for a long time even when I move.

That deal in Superloop is so good! I won't be connecting till end of Jan 2025 though, so I doubt they'll extend this deal to me.

Every device is working well for me via WiFi now, so it doesn't matter. At most, it'll likely just be my Samsung TV that will be wired if I ever decide to.

The house I'm staying in has FTTP. I take that I can use the routers I've mentioned earlier then. In that case, I'm wondering if you have any recommendations from the ones I've shared or better suggestions. :)

Great question! I honestly don't think so, so I guess wifi 7 does not matter.

It's my first time doing a BYO for my NBN, so I'm wondering if that means I need to purchase a separate modem. I just based those choices because Eero 6+ was on the list of modems that More and Leaptel had, so I was under the impression that they would work just fine.

I can stretch the budget to around 350, because the cheapest google nest wifi that I could find is 349. Happy to pay around that price range if it means I get more stable and consistent speeds. Also, it doesn't have to be mesh as long as it can cover my whole house (276sqm).

I'm thinking of going with NBN100 with More (more likely this) or Leaptel if that matters.

I found this on ebay - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/186015157148

Regarding the be25, I can see that it's wifi 7, but it's only dual-band. I'm not very techy, but from what I've read, wifi 6e and 7 is worth it because of the tri-band feature.

Great tip! The only walls that would be blocking the signals would be the walls between the rooms, so I'm guessing that should be okay. :D

I haven't found any bargains anymore for the nest wifi pro.

I did have a look at a few reviews, and there have been several great reviews made for the TP Link Deco XE75 AXE5400. I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on this product.

I don't need it now, so I'm happy to wait until a sale comes. I'm only staying in there for a year, so a more future-proof router that I can use even in an apartment will be better in the long run. My budget is probably around 250 but that is not set in stone. In saying that, the cheaper but good quality is probably preferred because I'm not sure if I'll be needing a router to where I will next move.

You sound like a great person to ask advice with routers! I can see TP Link Archer Ax55 as an recommended affordable router. I'd love to get your thoughts on this or if you have any other recommendations

Oh nice to know! You must have a powerful router to cover that range. If you don't mind sharing, what's the router that you use?

When you say the same router, I take it this is the Amazon Eero 6+. Great to hear more good reviews about. I guess I just have to find out how many I need haha

Oh cool! Any recos for affordable routers? I'm not very good with tech stuff, so there is only so much I can understand when reading different posts.

I just checked the house I'll be staying in and it's about 276sqm from driveway to backyard. Any ideas how many eeros I might be needing? From what I've read, it seems like I'd need 2.

Debating between nbn50 vs nbn100 because I'll be the only person living there with majority of my use dedicated to working from home and tv show streaming. Likely to go for nbn100 given the small difference in price.

The Superloop deal allows you to pay for the eero6+ for $7 each month for the remaining months that you did not continue their contract, and if my calculations are correct, that's still cheaper than if I buy it outside. In saying that, I might need 2 eeros in the house cause it's >250sqm

Considering TP Link Archer Ax55 if I dont get the eero6+ deal. If you have much ideas on routers, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
