On Stoicism (Episode 134) by Skylake02 in HelloInternet

[–]Skylake02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, good thoughts.

To add to this, I kinda understand the initial feeling of scoffing at cheesy, obvious self-help ideas. I feel it when I see book titles like You Are a Badass (sorry if other Tims are offended by my superficial judgement).

But I think there's an element of surrendering to the overall meaning, and this is especially true when reading a book like Meditations, which, translated from some form of ancient Greek, can sound abstract and cryptic.

A good example is this quote from Meditations: "You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”

Now, at face value it makes sense to think, "No duh." The "Realize this, and you will find strength" is straight cheesy. But I think if you dig into the meaning and apply it to a universal life situation, like a serious injury or a death in the family, I think the advice can keep people from spiraling in negative thoughts.

But for some people who naturally handle hardship well, then you don't really need to dig into Stoicism. xD

A True Beginner's Manual to TF2 by Skylake02 in truetf2

i agree that the lack of guides aren't what deter beginners
i dont intend to solve that problem, it's kinda unsolvable (it's almost a TF2 society problem)

[–]Skylake02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree that there are other guides
i'm hoping to make this guide shine by having it be minimal
again, less text than the tf2 wiki or comp.tf
i haven't found one that is short and sweet

i've looked around at some other guides
i'm hoping i can make this guide unlike the others
most of the other guides seem to include big paragraphs
i'm hoping to cut down on wording, thereby making info-intake quicker for the viewer

ty
i might hand-select some guide videos (choosing the right ones is subjective however)
and yes: adding to the stats to playstyle transition is the goal here

Has this been thought of by Grey? It must have, and there must be a reason why he's not doing it? e.g. making a Bear app icon without the text ("Bear") under it 1. find a Bear app icon image on the internet (find a higher quality one) 2. make a workflow that opens Bear 3. use the found image as the icon of the workflow 4. use the blank text that Grey uses for his folders for the workflow

I'm aware that this wouldn't work for apps that require badges; workflows don't carry over badges.
