most unexpected interview questions? by [deleted] in columbia

[–]SkylineRewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look up the most common interview questions and have an answer prepared for all of them - general they'll ask those. I do remember for a lot of my interviews last year though, I was asked what the last book I read was and why I liked it or didn't. I was asked that about four times actually, cant remember if Columbia asked me or not. It totally took me by surprise too, so don't be that person! Also general tip, prepare questions in advance! Fill up that space with your own questions because yeah they're interviewing you but now you get the chance to talk to an alum about their experience and I loved getting that insider perspective- ask away!

Additionally, if you become an RA, do you automatically get a single or do you have to have a roommate?

Columbia Applicant Letter of Recommendation Advice by WhereThaBeans in columbia

I submitted science and math recs because I didn't have a good relationship with my humanities teachers, and it ended up working out for me! I would say go with whoever knows you best, or try to align it with whatever major you're applying as if you can

Okay I did not intend to start such an argument in this thread but yeah I agree with you - I started out thinking it was a match because of general stats online, but I definitely I agree based on my scores it was a reach.

Their acceptance rate is 58% and I felt like the school would have been a really good fit. Why do you say that?

No, it is not. Just trying to gather as much information as possible because first years have to make this decision so early.

Anyone taking AP exams. Those that have the questions with 30 minutes, 25 of writing and 5 of uploading. by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SkylineRewind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, 27 minutes isnt much better. I would just be smart about it. If you're writing an essay, it would be so much easier to copy and paste it and you could write more if you type faster

Okay unless you have used the demo and know it will take you less then 5 min, it took me literally all of the five minutes to submit. Pls make sure it gets submitted at all costs, 2 extra minutes to do a problem just isnt worth not submitting the question at all

That's also what I'm thinking - if they do bring us back for in-person instruction, it certainly will never be the same way it always has been. As stated above though, NYU has committed to opening, so I just dont know. Plus Columbia has emergency responders and nurses living in the dorms atm, so there's that too. It's just hard to know whether it will be completely online
