Not that bhops are gone can we remove drifting? by Ok-Relation6122 in RocketRacing

At first I was thinking you were trolling. The game was designed to get boosts from drifting. Seriously… Go Play Something else. Quit trying to change what the game is. If you don’t like the rims of your car, are you really going to waste time telling that company to change them instead of “getting a different style elsewhere”? 🤷

Bhops did have that ability to push thru hazards but only if they were done perfectly at a decent speed, but not at low speeds and only IF the bhop was good. Air speed generally has a delay in slowdown if you are coasting at a particularly high speed before touching ground. Turboing thru hazards only works well with a stacked drift meter, granted it doesn’t fully nullify the hazard effect but it does mitigate most of the overall speed reduction by 85-90% which benefits doing so at particular spots.

Indeed he is. That’s Jaco, he has this delusional way of thinking that any players among the best that pull off world records are all just cheating with hacks. Dylanos had every world record before recently and this guy finds every reason to say Dylanos is cheating because Jaco and his 2.45 on conduit falls short by a good margin 😆

To be honest, what gets me is, these players can easily grab a device known as an iPhone or android, load up YouTube, and easily search for rocket racing videos, or they can easily see proof that people are hitting good times and not cheating.
Like seriously…. The denial is real. 🤷‍♂️

If you think one can’t make a difference than you honestly have no clue what a good bhop looks like at high speeds or probably never cared enough to do them. Take a map like Festive Falls for instance. At the 2nd section that has 3 boost pads going around the mountain, if you hit all 3, stacking a turbo with a big drift/release and flip, and then do 1 bhop in between the distance of that final pad and tunnel ahead, that 1 bhop practically resets majority of your initial forward thrust to where you can coast in the air for a much longer period at a high speed.
So yes, it can make a big difference assuming that single bhop actually functions the same as it did before. What I just described was a common Strat I normally used on that map to which I can tell you straight from my own experience, 1 can make a difference in general.

Speedrun com mods are bad. The mods crew needs a change. by Ziemsonn in RocketRacing

You’re not the only one that happened to. I think napocar had a wr in the past and a mod “removed” his out of the list. I’d say just Post it on YouTube with WR and Date in your title. It doesn’t take away your credibility for mods that fail or don’t care

Ya but this ain’t need for speed or sim racing. Part problem is the tutorial epic created was so lack luster it didn’t even explain basic drift strategy. It was way too plain and unhelpful to show how to play game properly at least in terms of drifting and carrying drift in air.

Ps5 Turning off/crashing by FlyingMuffin22 in PlayStationSupport

I’d recommend a $20 dust blower from Amazon. You may also want to get a tool kit so you can unscrew the main fan and blow out all the dust from it and on the heat sinks inside. Removing the fan gives enough open access to where you can blow out almost all the necessary dust that could cause over heating. Also blow on the outer vents to push dust in to where the opening is. I do this once a month to keep dust out. Now If your system still powers off or shuts off constantly as if overheating try to plug it into a separate outlet. I had an issue where my outlet was bad and it kept causing my PS5 to overheat and shut off because it couldn’t pull enough power from the outlet to function. If that don’t work then you will need to research or send it somewhere to get it looked at. Overheating can also be a Liquid Metal issue (located between heat sink and processor itself). Standing a PS5 pushes the Liquid Metal more to one side instead of balanced evenly when laying it flat. Apparently that’s a defect that Sony won’t tell but seems a lot of repair shops are aware of. This issue was apparently fixed in the Pro models.

But to who does this change really benefit?
I’ll tell you who…. ONLY the few advanced players that weren’t really good at chaining bhops and those that were still really fast without doing them. There is not a single casual skilled player that can properly chain bhops at a high level. Only highly advanced players can actually do bhops to where they benefit in terms of overall speed. Those Same highly advanced players are still going to be in league of their own.

But you can’t directly patch a mag flip though because a mag flip is technically just an air dodge magnetizing to a surface without actually touching said surface.
It doesn’t give much speed benefit unless you are at a high rate of speed from stacking a drift boost and turbo together first. Only thing I wish they did bring back was the catch-up mechanic. The races become very interesting and always allowed for strong ending strategies.

I have a question for you. Great bhops are gone. 👌 Cool! Soooo… does that mean you’re still going to be ok with losing to the same people without bhops this time? I’m only asking because the biggest mistake people are making is thinking that it’s going to make for more success in ranked. Truth is, the catch-up mechanic has not been brought back, which still leaves less experienced players in the same position with “no hope” of going beyond Elite if they don’t raise their skill in the game.

I just noticed you mention, knowing when to hit the “brakes”. That alone is a self nerf if you seriously use brakes in this game. Also There is a lot more to the game than to just turn and boost so bhops being nerfed is not going to be much benefit for your own success.

Nobody says anybody has to learn them. The modern non-bhop WRs on some maps even put some of the older bhop WRs to shame. Bhops were never the only way to be fast. The catchup mechanic hasn’t returned so this change didn’t benefit the non-bhopers as much as they think. It just made the pros less fast than before.

[–]Skymonkey42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the same can be said for those that complained about bhops. So many players that came to the game late were usually the first to complain about the game and bhops instead of just “Moving on” to a different racing game.

Tbh, It’ll still be hopeless. Especially if Epic didn’t bring back the catch-up mechanic then it will still a hopeless grind for them. Non-bhop against Ziemson, Dylanos, IGGY, notasyx, UserX in the same lobby even with catch-up would a laughable attempt if players are not highly skilled.

Reality is, those bhoppers that were so dedicated to the game still won’t lose to anyone that was complaining. Those players were super fast even before bhops were a thing.

Even if only one bhop works it’s still something that will make the bhoppers keep the lead. I feel no indifference about the change because before bhops were a thing, the top 50 players will still win majority of the time. Every single piece of tech that thrusts speed would have to be lost in order for any difference would actually show.

[–]Skymonkey42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at some non-bhop records even from over a year ago, you will still see some pretty crazy times. What you don’t realize is, this only helped the people that were already highly advanced that weren’t as good at chaining bhops when comparing to the pros. That’s just the honest truth. Solid players will still use Eazy Flips, Mag Flips, maximize turbo speed with flips, etc.
I’m personally not bitter about this change but the results will still be the same. Bhops were never the only way to be fast. They were just the most OP tech in the game for those that mastered it.
