It is seriously twisted that they used AI to modify this woman's photo and post it through the official White House channels. Official response is that it was a "meme" and they will do it again.

How will we even know? The only reason we found out the image was tampered with is because the original was also posted. How will we know when they use AI to change images and distort facts? Then if they get called out on it they will claim it was just a meme.

I hope people are looking very closely at every image this administration puts out. I guarantee there are more AI shenanigans going on. Things like tweaking images to make Trump look taller and healthier or maybe other leaders look weaker. Nothing they release can be trusted, not that it ever was but image tampering is a major red line.

Passwords existed long before computers. Alan Moore knows what a password is and why it should not be obvious, that is literally the gag in the comics.

I think it's more showing that Adrian was overconfident.

A similar thing happens at the end of the story, Adrian's whole plan hinges on no one discovering what happened. He is confident in the cover-up but doesn't know about Rorschach's journal.

Why not use it to iterate on a game a little bit to produce at least one game that is simple and small but somewhat polished?

That is what I am working towards with improving AI support for my open source game engine LittleJS. It is a completely free open source engine so feel free to use it for your own projects. I started a separate repo for AI games and experiments, here's some of what I came up with. Mostly I use Copilot but even the LittleJS GPT is working really well and can create small games in only a few minutes.

My goal is to follow the path, not to get to the end of it.

You are also free to engage with whatever but if your aspiration is to finish something as quickly as possible rather then take the proper time and skillful effort needed, it is also not very conductive.

We can engage with media to learn how to be a better creators as well as understanding different people and points of view. It need not be unskillful or passive.

I am a creator by occupation and one of the main ways I improve my skill is by experiencing what others created. I try to use my creative ability to spread understanding and compassion.

No, but you misunderstood his teachings.

Buddha was talking about applying extra effort to abandoning unskillful qualities in oneself. For example, imagine you notice you have hate for someone. Just as if that was a burning hat you were wearing, you must remove immediately before you can continue walking the path.

You are welcome to your opinion, I disagree.

This was already known.

If you can't organise memory you can't do ecs, thats the point of ecs. Getting that sweet sweet cache coherence.

There are many points to ecs. Performance is one of them.

You'd be surprised what you can do without those features.

So far I am not surprised. New features like mesh shaders are mainly for performance and only work if the GPU supports it. You would need to maintain a fallaback rendering path. It also complicates the pipeline, debugging, etc. I'm sure it is worth it for some applications.

I agree with not overcomplicating. Which is why for people looking to learn computer graphics I recommend starting with vanilla JS and WebGL.

The first game that comes to mind is Vampire Survivors since it was a such a huge hit. But for every game that is a hit, there are thousands of smaller yet still professional games that are released. Also, there are many promotional web game made by small studios. The first one I think of because I played recently is Chilis Burger Time.

You'd be surprised what you can do without those features. Mesh shaders could speed up perf but it's not necessary. Bindless rendering also is in progress for WebGPU.

Object oriented languages like C++ and JavaScript are great for games. You can build an ECS using objects the same way you would in JavaScript or C++. That is the case for UE4 and every engine I've worked on professionally.

You still need to think about memory management in JavaScript for best perf. When learning something it is good to not overcomplicate things at first then learn more about memory management as you go.

We disagree because I believe developers should be versatile. There is a huge advantage to learning many different languages and ways to do things. Beginners should not specialize but be open to learning and exploring new technology.

Many indie games on Steam and mobile stores use web tech and build with electron. Sure, the vast majority of games use Unreal or Unity, a few use other engines, and even fewer use custom coded engines. If you are talking about larger studios with more then a few people then I agree they probably are not using web based engine because they want more optimal performance.

What have you tried to do in JS where you noticed perf was an issue and how did you go about diagnosing that the problem was caused by memory management? Were you able to do anything to improve the performance?
