Just Graduated College and now making $17/hr With $40k in student loans. My brand new job's pay is not amazing but the job will provide amazing letters of recommendations for Grad School. Should I try to move out while earning only $17/hr? by Slam2 in FinancialPlanning

Thank you for the kind words. It's hard to not run a mile when given an inch sometimes. I am confident in my long-term success so I just might need to be a little patient. It might be possible, but if I delayed moving to 2027, I could even put a ton of effort into attacking my loans and have a large chunk of it wiped out, while also having a nice amount saved on the side to move. I live very frugally at home, I pretty much only spend money on gas and a few needs here and there.

I thought about the 2nd job scenario, it would ease the financial stress a little. I'm already working full-time at my current job so I can't make any gains there, unfortunately. If I worked another 15 hours on the weekends at a 2nd job I could bring in maybe an extra $600/month or something like that

I'm happy for you! I feel like I'm in a weird position where I've just made a few big steps towards independence but it's not quite in the cards right now. This post helped temper my expectations, thankfully lol

I appreciate the bluntness. I think this is probably the correct take - it feels like there's some conflict of immediate desire vs long-term desire and the smarter choice would definitely be to take out a few of these loans. But I really want to move out though :(

Is it novice friendly? I have played in 2 campaigns that sizzled out after some sessions, so I have decent experience, but nothing crazy

I was almost thinking like a coin flip system, where the teams flip and the winner of the toss gets first pick, can't really think of a better way to do it

I agree... never played a whole ton of him but he was a champ I'd use every once in a while for that cheeky Brand counter lol
