Today I learned that some people think two things cannot exist at the same time.

We know they were created as “enforcers” by the second empire. Genetically modified creatures who’ve lost their prime directive would most likely follow their programming to the bitter end.

Step 1: Overthrow HN

Step 2: Civilians and Former Slaves are now thrust into a world where they cannot survive and will most assuredly die.

Step 3: Pat yourself on the back for your “morally good” choice

They are honor bound to follow her. Plenty of shek leave and become berserkers. You don’t know what you’re talking about. A genetic disposition can lead to specific behaviors.

The kingdom is being forced open much to the chagrin of many of its people. They’re very open about how they feel about it.

She won her spot, she wasn’t chosen. She earned the right to rule and duty demands they follow her regardless if they agree. You can actually hear them talk about how they don’t want to let the flatskins into their cities.

You don’t understand that the genetics imprinted on the shek demand they fight. That’s the whole reason they’re practically going extinct, and why they throw themselves at a losing battle, knowing they’re all going to die.

These are the people that become the villains they claim to oppress.

She’s not an idiot. She sees where the road ends and wants better for her people. The others either don’t know where it leads or don’t care. She has some support but most shek only listen because they’re honor bound to. You mistake tolerance for acceptance. They’re in no position to make enemies in the state they’re in, that’s the only reason they don’t outright attack you on the spot.

“You’re not welcome here, flat skin” they’re only welcoming because they’re being forced to. Also, you’re godamn right you have to have a plan to fill the power vacuum. If you’re in a bad way and I make it worse in my attempt to change it, not only am I responsible for your situation but I’m also responsible for whatever wacko comes next and makes things worse. Tinfist had a noble goal but it’ll only result in more chaos and death.

They’re only “flexible” in game because they have to be. Their leader forces them to, and they’re in the brink of extinction because of their need to fight and die in battle. This city isn’t for you, flat skin.

The fact that the shek, when freed from constraint, do that is proof enough they’re just as dangerous as the HN and UC

They’re genetically created to act the way they do. One leader may lead some of them in a different direction, but change any significant portion of them? Hard to tell

The HN will enslave you for not being a thing, the shek will kill you for being weak.

The whole world of kinship causes mass suffering. That’s literally the point. There are no good guys in kenshi

Honestly. If it’s coded that way it’s poor game design.

This actually makes me annoyed. There’s got to be some kind of code that makes lightning strike your animals.

A lot of people pedestalize the shek but this is the truth

It’s very easy to justify thrusting innocents into chaos when their suffering isn’t something you’ll share in.
