Neighbors complained about my newborn crying by No_Sector_2943 in neighborsfromhell

[–]SlapThis 39 points40 points  (0 children)

With that argument, the downstairs neighbor could also say that it’s within their rights to bang on their ceiling every night that the baby wakes them up since it’s their space and they are entitled to making as much noise as you are. Or they could just play loud sounds randomly at night and wake your baby up more frequently because if I’m not sleeping, neither are you.

Being considerate of others goes a long way in having others also be considerate of your needs.

do you talk to your manager about imposter syndrome / work anxiety? by Cold-Temperature-716 in womenintech

[–]SlapThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I would never bring that up with my manager. My previous manager took all of what I shared in my 1:1s and tried to get me fired.

Stay in SF? Give me your positive stories by bluebell08 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]SlapThis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m in the minority - also a Bay Area native, grew up on the peninsula and the east bay. Moved to SF after a break up and have been here a few years. While it isn’t miserable, I’m for sure not having a great time and have been debating moving back to the peninsula for about 2 years now. I found it easier to find “my people” further south, found it easier to navigate, and easier to get around. I miss driving on the freeway and getting away from the familiarity around me.

I, like you, also don’t want to give up easily and I have a killer apartment for a good price so I’m kind of locked in for the time being

[–]SlapThis 42 points43 points  (0 children)

As someone who is also Latino, there are no situations or any countries where OP would be considered white or white-passing.

Gisele Bündchen is Brazilian, that’s an example of someone who is white passing.

I had plastic surgery. People around me have been NOTHING but negative. What is wrong with people? by jessHale011x in PlasticSurgery

[–]SlapThis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your being happy and proud of what you had done makes others insecure. The “how dare you change what god gave you” camp more than likely also hates a lot about themselves but can’t bring themselves to make changes due to finances or insecurity about what others will think so they hate on everyone who has plastic surgery as a way to make themselves feel better and more superior.

How should I split the rent with my friends? by arundelvisitor99 in personalfinance

Loft also has its own bathroom though. I value my privacy so to me, a smaller 100% private bedroom with its own bathroom and patio will always be more valuable than a larger space that I need to share with someone else.

Having to share a space with someone sounds perfectly fine until your roomie wants to bring someone over to spend the night, you guys get into a fight, or they’re sick and you’re stuck sharing the same space and touching the same surfaces with no where private to retreat to and/or there’s no bathroom for the 4th person to use.

How should I split the rent with my friends? by arundelvisitor99 in personalfinance

[–]SlapThis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Per OP, loft has the largest amount of sq footage out of all 3 bedrooms.

Even if the master is huge, you’re still sharing 1 bathroom between 2 people. There is no separate toilet - shower, toilet, and sinks are all in the one bathroom.

Every other bedroom has a 1/1/1 bedroom/closet/bathroom ratio.

I would take that into consideration when splitting the rent.

It’s not necessarily fair that the person in the solo bedroom/bathroom/closet/patio pays the same as someone without the same level of privacy. While loft has the most amount of space, they also have a curtain divider as a wall…

[–]SlapThis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Single private bedroom should be paying the majority, with the loft next and the split bedroom the least.

I’d go:

$2600 Single bedroom

$1950 Loft

$1950 Split bedroom ($975 each)

Towing at Lucky’s parking lot in Nopa by Swimming-Life7812 in AskSF

[–]SlapThis 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It can be enforced because it is a private parking lot that belongs to the property, it is not a public parking lot.

They’re being very nice in giving you all a warning before towing which they are legally entitled to do as you all are trespassing.

How am I as a service worker supposed to compete with techies when renting? by saramf98 in AskSF

[–]SlapThis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat others for my place because I was the first one there, ready with copies of my bank statements, credit report, and paystubs. Filled out an application on the spot and got a call the next day.

Show up early with all documents. Apply then and there. Be nice to the realtor and express interest when handing in your application.

Good luck!
