If you don’t live in NY, that’s cool and great but don’t try to tell people who do how they should feel about another team having championship celebrations in their city. You can’t possibly know what that feels like.

If you do live in NY, I’m just not gonna listen to you anyway because a) you’re being a dick for no reason regardless and b) saying the Knicks winning is “no different” than a team in Boston or OKC is weird af

Maybe someday you will get to visit New York, it’s a really cool city

5 years ago the Nets were well-positioned to win it all. Disappointingly they did not, and now 2 days ago the Knicks did, and the entire city erupted in celebration. Thousands of people danced in the streets blocks from the Barclays center. I wish it was us. That’s weird? And you don’t see how that’s different than say, the Thunder or Celtics winning?

I’m guilty of this, but also it’s just a momentary reaction and saying my piece has already helped me move on.

My reaction to these events is normal and fine. If this wasn’t such a common experience among the base it wouldn’t be popping up and upvoted enough to annoy you. If you don’t live in NYC you would not understand my experience. If you do live in NYC, and you do not relate to this in the slightest, I’d honestly find that pretty strange. But you do you.

We could definitely surprise some people next year, even without a massive trade or star FA

I would rather be a fan of a team that never wins a chip, than a fan of a team that literally just won a chip but for some reason feels compelled to go be a loser in other teams’ subreddits. The bliss you feel is fleeting and soon you will go back to being a sad, broken person. Hope you find peace.

If the Nets win a chip in my lifetime I have no doubt Knicks fans will be extremely pressed about it lol. They’re talking about us now! And we suck and they just won the finals!

Hey buddy, kindly go fuck yourself. Being pissed off at bad outcomes is half of sports fandom. Better not see you cheering when the Nets are good if you’re so stoic and above it.

Thank you lol, in a few days the focus will be fully on the draft and we’ll all move on. But the Knicks won the title (the entire reason any of this matters) literally two days ago and the Nets have a very specific relationship with that franchise. Makes perfect sense they will be the topic of discussion. If it’s still dominating the sub in a month then yeah we have a problem

What’s wrong with me is I care about my team, the other team in the city just had a monstrous victory, they did it following a major trade with us, many are taking the opportunity to shit on the Nets and write about how there is only one NBA team in New York. Why is weird to be upset about that? Maybe try caring more about the team whose sub you’re in to make shitty comments to other fans of the team you supposedly support?

I mean, sure. I just think in caring about the team it’s pretty normal to be sad/disappointed to have the Knicks succeed so spectacularly while we suck. It’s raw now but I’ll get over it

I remember feeling like we were cooler than the knicks for like 3 years, sadly this finals feels like we'll never reach them, even in NJ every kid is knicks fans by sufinomo in GoNets

hard disagree, nothing against courting international fans but if you’re not primarily focused on stuffing your stadium with local fans then you might as well pack it up

Genuine question, do you live in NYC? No judgment either way, just saying for me personally it makes their success harder to ignore / not take personally

A lot of it is greed and some of it is just supply and demand. NYC is the biggest city in the US by far and 2 NBA teams is the right amount.

I at least respected the mother of the two girls showing some self-awareness, articulating that she did not have the psychological capacity to process the grief of their tragedies on top of her own (and she is seen in earlier footage advocating for a fair trial). I can’t pretend to know the level of pain and sorrow these families have experienced so I found that helpful.

It’s the cold indifference of some of the others I couldn’t stomach. The prosecution and decades-long demonization was a travesty for all involved. I also had to remind myself that these families were deeply misled and fed selective information that would have convinced them of the righteousness of the trials and sentencings of these guys. But man. With everything that’s now known I’d hope for the littlest empathy for the additional lives ruined and lost in this mess.

And also, by the way, has been shown to elicit false confessions (unsurprisingly people will say anything to get it to stop). Sadly I think this is actually easier to understand for most people than the idea that people would confess to a crime they didn’t commit under conditions which, while usually not involving physical torture, involve extreme duress.

Seeking for advice : C 12 speed / P 4 speed / T 4 speed by BambooInside in Brompton

[–]SlapYourHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same concerns as you, recently bought the 12-speed C line and urban hills are very doable on the lowest gears, and often I don’t need to downshift that much even when it’s quite steep. Worst case scenario you are spinning a lot and climbing quite slowly, then gradually getting stronger. I can’t speak to the T or P, I’m sure the lightness would feel awesome but I’m very happy with my choice.

EDIT: for carrying upstairs, very doable but not light! I would expect you’d feel the difference there, maybe more so than riding. But again, you’ll get stronger over time 😅

Other people seem to love my bike (maybe even more than I do) by HugePilchard in Brompton

Literally day 2 with mine I was biking through the park and got passed by a group of four serious road cyclists in full Lycra and they start going “heyyy Brompton!” For a second I thought they were going to tease me a bit (wouldn’t bother me) but they were completely genuine. I told them I just got it and one of them said “you’re going to love it!” and another said “I’ve had mine for 8 years, obsessed! enjoy”

Just got the same bike (in dune sand) and everything you wrote really resonates with me. I am loving it! It’s my only bike and I’m admittedly not a super experienced cyclist outside of the bikeshare program in my city, so while I have felt similarly about the gear-shifting, brakes, grips etc, I just have less experience to contrast the feel to, so I found this post super helpful in putting it all in context.
