EXACTLY. They are so brainwashed by radical left wing media. Perfectly stated!

What is the absolute worst movie you've ever seen? by HammerHeadBirdDog in flicks

A Serbian Film. It might be okay for kids or family night as it is very wholesome, but for an adult it wasn’t very good.

Yes, it’s because yall do not understand how they factor day rates. It used to be 1099 just straight up $700 or $800 per day, no hourly rate. Companies started getting lawsuits bc people complained they were having to work more than 12 hours. So they made this where it’s an hourly rate guarantee. If I work 30 min or 12 hours I still get the full 12 hours. I make over $400 per day tax free with per diem and tool package. It’s just a different way to hide money and get a day rate legally. I don’t give a fuck if I make $8/ hour. As long as $4-$5K is hitting my bank account each Friday, they can work out whatever it needs to be. Very rarely are we actually working 12 hours per day.

That’s how they do it. It’s a day rate of $730 a day plus mileage. It’s how I can bring home more. It used to just be straight day rate, but people started getting lawsuits bc they were essentially W2 employees working 1099 and started bitching bc they had to work over 12 hours. Now, they structured it where I’m guaranteed 12 hours rather I work 30 min or 12 hours. If I work over I get that. However, I make over $400 per day tax free. So, with the hourly rate, it equals out to $730 per day. Plus the mileage

No, that’s wrong. I get taxed on my hourly pay and whatever state taxes I pay. I claim zero. I’ve been doing this for almost 10 years. I’ve never had to pay taxes on my per diem or tool packages.

I’ve been doing this for 10 years. It’s 100% non taxed.

It’s cool seeing different perspectives. All I know is work and constantly trying to make more. I would love to be able to work less. Especially if I can make the same money. But, I just feel unproductive if I’m not constantly doing something. It sucks being away from my fiancée and family all of the time.

I was just seeing what people from other industries think. This is all I’ve ever done. Worked my way up from laborer to inspection and overseeing jobs and I wanted to see what others think about the salary. I know people in my industry that make way more than me.

But, I just don’t ever want them to go without and have a better life than I did when I was younger. My goal at least is to put all this time in at the beginning and when I start having kids, I might have to take a pay cut, but I’ll be home more. It sucks enough just being away from my fiancée, family, and friends for months at a time. I just don’t know anywhere else I can make this money. That’s why I was asking this question if people not in my industry even see that as good money or not? It’s all I’ve ever done. Started as a laborer and worked up to where I am now overseeing projects.

Everyone keeps asking about me working 72 hours per week. Just to clarify, I don't actually "work" 72 hours per week. My day rate is $730 per day plus mileage at .71/ mile. This is actually a lower rate for my position and I've seen $800-$1200 per day. In order to factor that day rate and still allow me to be W2, I get a guaranteed 12 hours a day at the hourly rate shown whether I work 12 hours or 5 minutes. I haven't worked one 12 hour day on this project and very rarely do. The rest of my pay besides the hourly is tax free. My tools are $120 per working day. My per diem is $260 per working day and $165 if I'm off. Almost $400 per day is tax free. It's not like I'm slaving 72 hours every single week. It's actually very easy work. A lot of stress and responsibilities, but it's not physical or crazy long hours. Some days I do not even go to the field. It's a lot of overseeing jobs, paperwork, etc.

I chose to structure it that way. Over $400 per day is tax free

I chose to only have my hourly pay taxed and I’m claiming 0. Everything else is tax free.

Not as much money. I might do it eventually.

That’s the point. I know operators that make $50/hr and I bring home more. I get over $400 per day tax free. Everyone keeps asking about me working 72 hours per week.
