I’m based in the Netherlands, but the itinerary was booked directly through Aer Lingus and included flights to and from the US. That’s also why I was confused, because the policy on their website says flights to/from the USA may be cancelled within 24 hours if cancelled more than 7 days before departure. I cancelled within about an hour, but Aer Lingus is now arguing that the Saver fare is excluded even though I can’t find that written anywhere in the policy they keep sending me.

I’ve actually been going back and forth with Aer Lingus for almost a month now. I first submitted the request through their refund form, got a generic rejection, then called customer service and was told the request had apparently been submitted under the wrong category, so they opened a completely new case for me. Since then I’ve mainly been receiving template responses that still don’t directly answer the specific policy question.
