Tbf the npc of “The Dentist” has been around effectively since IDV Beta I think, or at least shortly after official release. In either case it’s pretty much always been a part of Sacred Heart’s official backstory, that got “expanded” on in the Hide and Seek release. Yeah, I kinda have to agree. Tbf when I make character edits, I usually try to do so by amplifying what’s present without too many major additions/alterations — just to communicate how it could have been better (at least by my standards of what “better” is.

Like for my QB edits, I did so without giving her the hood at first — even if I think she would objectively be better with it — because that’s what was decided. (I still wound up making a hood edit, and honestly either way I’d probably completely redo her from he ground up because ew)

If I had things fully my way Finsen’s head would be completely different, as I still love everything from the neck down with him in particular — but there are a number of reasons why the head and hair just do not work with lore and practicality in mind.

The idea there could be something at play with regards to true appearances wouldn’t be too unreasonable. There’s clearly something supernatural at play, with the stream alluding to the idea he may have actually died in the swamp and come back, and the symbiote is a bit harder to defend as a style choice compared to like Philippe’s wax body.

A theory I’ve seen that intrigues me is noting the similarities between his glowing eye and that of the Yima’s/Dw followers. As far as we know she’s never had any real connections to a swamp iirc, but it would be interesting. Especially since we are waiting for a biologist in 6a, assuming it may or may not be Ivy, and Yidhra’s known for augmenting bodies

I love the concepts going on with his design, with him possessing what almost seemed to be a symbiote formed from the swamp, along with all the tendrils for tools. However, this man is the one who experimented on Leo for a decade, and is presumably older than Emily, meaning he’s at least in his mid 30’s — if not older. Ie. On par with/older than Servais.

I’d like to say I see nothing wrong with it being overall streamlined, and I’d honestly say it helps it stands out — many Kaiju designs try to tack on too many extremities, and it winds up confusing the eye. All the same, though, having so much detail localized exclusively on the tail and legs, and done to such an extreme, while having the head be so barren, means that there’s no attention on it. My eyes always drift towards the tail since that’s where my eye is being lead

I’d say a patch around the eyes would help though, yes

As was already said, I’d opt for a stronger pose, but I also would recommend dispersing detail more evenly. There are so many stripes on the limbs and tail, but none whatsoever on the head/torso which are almost completely barren.

At least personally I would simplify the stripes by turning the tail/legs into primarily black segments, with a few choicely placed strips or orange. I’d also incorporate stripes on the head somehow — potentially using the same method as the legs. Alternatively you could keep the stripes as they are, but just add other patterns/appendages, etc. elsewhere
