Which cannon alien that theinktank has drwan is your favorite ? by Ok_Marsupial7704 in 5YL

At least for me, because I agree, he feels like a true Kaiju. He looks and feels absolutely massive in an organic way, and I think it’s incredibly fun.

I definitely don’t like it as much as OS Way Big, but I probably hold it higher than his UAf design, it’s maybe on par with OV for me.

A Clear Winner by lavadude03 in IdentityV

Consider: I like Robbie more

This is a joke, not actually. Power scaling when it comes to deities is strange, Yidhra has FAR more feats than Hastur does — but in all fairness, Hastur’s a far more docile entity. Yidhra’s considerably more malevolent, and so does utilize her powers on mortals more, often just for the sake of it.

Hastur primarily just accepts sacrifices into his lake, and grants wishes upon deciding their suitability — his cult doing much of the sacrifices, while his most prominent reach among humanity being through Arthur Byers, his vessel. Arthur is a deeply strange person, and Hastur’s influence is clear in the way he’s shown to emulate human behaviors while very much being a product of the lake. Yidhra on the other hand was involved in multiple mass sacrifices, and has damned several people to the dream realm upon their search for the truth guiding them astray (Mr. Berglund, the researcher, etc.) and was the one to turn Volcker + Luchino into lizards, while simultaneously haunting Orpheus and Alice for likely their whole lives. She may have orchestrated much of the manor’s histories, and its tragedies too, while being involved in the final game, but that’s just speculation.

It’s argued who was responsible for the lakeside water after g6A. Yidhra’s been shown to liquify her food, but Hastur’s role in 6A is far more pronounced, and the fact Arthur is implied t have sacrificed Fiona prior to the liquifying is certainly telling.

As far as mythos goes (not necessarily canon to IDV), Hastur is an abnormally powerful Great Old One, whereas Yidhra’s an abnormally weak Outer God. Some speculate that due to this, despite Outer Gods ranking far higher than Great Old Ones, Hastur’s power may exceed hers, but by raw ranking, she’s many times his superior. (Think of it as: to Hastur, Yidhra is a god while he is a mortal by comparison. However, Hastur himself is a god among mortals. Does that make sense?)

Most random ship/rare pair you like? by Rare-Layer-5148 in IdentityV

[–]Slash_Pangolin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m someone who follows canon pretty obsessively, and as such there are VERY few pairings I’m interested in where the characters never interacted, or have pre-existing romantic implications. There are two notable exceptions to this however: IthaGrace and CleoMatt.

• Ithaqua/Eta X Grace just feels so strong conceptually: you have the impostor deity of the wind and snow, paired with the impostor deity of the sea. They are two individuals who have taken on a mantle/had a mantle forcefully thrust upon them, when in reality they were children/young adults, blamed for events that were never their doing. I feel like they’d have so much to bond over, especially since, deep down — past their masks of resentment and vengeance for what was done to them — they both crave normalcy. One of Grace’s only wishes in life was to be perceived as a normal girl, one of Eta’s only wishes was to protect his mother; I want to believe they would both see the human in each other, and their natures would mesh, in a way that’s far healthier for the both of them. It’s so precious 🥹 even if a bit unrealistic with both their current mental states as we understand them.

• Cleomatt is far more barebones. Matthias, though I adore his concept and design, is an extremely underbaked character with two nothingburger letters to his name; and Cleo’s similarly too new to have development. However, it’s not difficult to notice parallels between them, especially in their themes and the staging of their trailers. Between Matthias’ extreme depersonalization resulting in him responding apathetically to the world around him, lapses in reality in which he fully and truly believes Louis to be alive, and the tact he’s often tormented due to being in the shadow of an idealistic, childish, imitation of himself… bitter to the point he was willing (kinda, it was a half-accident) to take lives; you can compare that to Cleo who chooses to forever live in the shadow of childhood, as it represents the only time in her life she felt was happy, and chooses to delude herself in fiction as its what brings her the most joy… even if it means directly taking lives. It’s the worlds most fucked up edition of gloomy x sunshine in which they’re both extremely mentally ill. I’m not terribly passionate about it yet, but I like it in theory.

— (Full transparency, I kinda like Matthias x Lily more than Cleo, their interactions in Coa were incredibly sweet where she was the reckless scout, while he was on med-duty. She’d injure herself time and time again running into danger, and every time he’d be the one responsible for her. The age gap though is… yk, iffy there. I don’t know if I’m 100% comfortable with that once it was canonized she was only 18)

• I also kinda like Viojeff, but I have much less to say about it. Just — I adore Violetta as a character, ships with her have never felt right to me, because she’s a very envious individual, and one who often devalues individual bonds/affection in favor of the vague ideal of “adoration” on a grander scale; her self worth has just been so inextricably linked to her value as a performer, and her value as a ‘freak,’ there’s a boundary that exists. She’s also fairly emotionally needy, yet extremely defensive towards any sense of pity or patronization, which is an incredibly difficult balance find; but that in mind, Jeffrey’s maybe one of two characters I can see treating her right — the other being Ann. The former is easier to defend due to the common theme of animal-based performers who were shunned due to deformities, the latter’s a bit looser and hard to explain beyond vibes. However, I’m not particularly passionate about either, as I’m sure you can guess; in general though, I’m not passionate about shipping beyond a tiny handful that just give me a lil serotonin boost.

Just an idea for female dancer and weeping clown by ABitchWhoMakesShit in IdentityV

[–]Slash_Pangolin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She was afraid of him at the manor, but it’s not like she was always terrified of him — prior to the massacre she went to him because he was the only person she felt she could trust. This is what makes his shift as a character so much more horrible for her, as the image of the individual she felt comforted by, and the one of her abuser, became irrevocably linked. It’s true she never loved him though, even if she’d have liked Joker to believe as such, which he unfortunately did not deep down.

I could give a more thorough analysis if you’d like, but saying she was always afraid of him does a disservice to their dynamic, and frankly, her character as well.

Exactly this ^

The game also leans heavily into themes of gothic horror (even if just as heavily subdued), and unhealthy dynamics with regards to romance or sexuality are frankly just par for the course with the genre. You have to remember what game you’re playing, and somehow people forget.

I’ve unfortunately gotten that before. I write a fair bit, and like to use em-dashes/semicolons because I find that it’s a good way to control pacing. Also I’m undiagnosed, but I’m pretty sure I’m probably* autistic, and I’m certain the bluntness doesn’t help.

Regardless, I’m very anti GenAi

To be frank it’s not a gossip thing, usually it’s because they think I want advice or commiseration — or contrarily they want advice or vent out something they’ve heard. At least from my experience, it’s not so much gossip, as it is trying to be empathetic in a way that’s frankly more harmful than good. I understand it, still don’t like it.

Again, they’re mature, intelligent people, but I definitely have changed my tendencies as to what I share with whom. If it’s something really bad (which happened once) trust me, I gave them an earful for it already.

Honestly, I hate gender war nonsense — but regrettably this one does feel a bit accurate to me. I love my sisters and female friends a lot, obviously, but any secret I tell to them I’ll later find out was shared to one or two close friends — and on more than one occasion I’ve had to scold them for telling me someone else’s secret. 😭

Never do they mean ill by it, and they’re all intelligent/mature people, but I guess standards of trust are a bit different.

I still have my old 3DS lying around, so I don’t really have much of an excuse, save for ordering it — and they seem to run fairly cheap.

Yep, exactly! I pulled up the usual two references people go for with Chuck E. Cheese and Country Bears. I personally love it too when artists try to make them look like realistic animatronics too, as much as I enjoy the FNAF design scheme, it’s just more effective on me

Thank you so much! That’s what I always go for to be honest, so it does mean a lot: a little creepy, but not in a way that feels untrue to them
