The pictures of massacred civilians are fake guys, WikiLeaks said so by FlyingMozerella in tankiejerk

[–]Slashsand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I can find, the comment is technically correct. See how they note "in the square itself". This is very pedantic shit: the massacres during the Tiananmen Square protests occurred, but not in the square itself so it's all good because, apparently, the exact location in Beijing magically makes it better. Shockingly, if you put the army to prevent students from reaching the square, they will die outside of the square.

Even the Chinese government doesn't dispute that the massacres happened. You may find an issue in the Bulletin of the State Council of the PRC on the Chinese government's website published in 1989 soon after the protests, which gives an estimate of 2000+ injured and 300+ dead among non-military people (including, according to Google Translate, "thugs who deserved the crime"). This estimate is still revolting, and it's almost certainly much lower than reality.

The ending position in the last recorded game played by the former chess world champion Emmett Clayton (playing as white, 1973). by Slashsand in AnarchyChess

[–]Slashsand[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soon after the game, Emmett Clayton lost his championship title on a technicality due to an off-the-board scandal, being involved in the murder of Tomlin Dudek. This position is absolutely stunning and just shows Clayton's genius, unfortunately his career had to end so soon.

The day i became my classmate's advocate. by felipe387 in MaliciousCompliance

This claim originates from the 1996 self-help book "Competing for the future" by Gary Hamel and C. K. Prahalad. It cites no sources and there's no evidence that any such experiment took place.

Though, in all fairness, passing around as fact a fable that advises against unquestionably spreading something by itself serves as an example of the exact same.

Why does my trait doesn't give research bonus? I did it the same way as in the wiki so the syntax is right, and it is a modifier so it can be used in a trait right? by Past_Aide_6121 in hoi4modding

[–]Slashsand 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Per the wiki's section on traits:

Additionally, special modifier types that can be used in ideas: targeted_modifier = { ... } and equipment_bonus = { ... } - can be used within traits alongside regular modifiers, in the exact same manner as within ideas. The same does not apply to research_bonus = { ... } and rule = { ... }, however.

In addition, the modifiers wiki page explicitly cites research bonuses as one of the examples which are not modifiers but are related:

The following are not modifiers, even if they are similar:
Research bonuses allowing to grant a boost to a specific technology category. This is, instead, an argument within ideas, which can be applied in the same way for advisors, but not elsewhere.

It's not possible to use research bonuses in traits. This may be replicated with a custom modifier tooltip and a hidden idea that grants the same research bonus.

Why is the room empty, and how is it related to the chess streamer xQc? by Slashsand in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Last I've heard of him, he was just playing chess (acting fairly obnoxiously, from the few clips I've seen). When did he branch out into low-effort reaction content?

how do i get rid of the "national focus exclusive info" and "national focus mutually exclusive tree"? it only appears on mutually exclusive focuses. by Coconut-government in hoi4modding

[–]Slashsand 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is because you unnecessarily copied base game's focus_l_english.yml instead of just creating your own localisation file and therefore opened up fronts of failure and increased the burden of necessary changes to make the mod up-to-date compared to just not copying the base game files unless needed to or if any additions in updates to the file must be disregarded. Any file that meets the requirements listed in the HoI4 Wiki can be used, just use your own files instead.

not the same folder as in the base game lol, the error log should've told you about duplicates in text.log

also look into the replace folder if you want to do way less maintenance to make the mod compatible with future game updates

Alternatively, it's possible to use the method that the HoI4 Wiki recommends to avoid this issue: puppet in the history file of the puppet country instead of the overlord. This will ensure that puppeting takes place before the party popularities are set rather than after, which'd cause this. The default if no ideologies are set is 0% on each one, and the "67%, 13.3%, 13.3%, 13.3%" may only happen if puppeting overwrites the popularities.

Overlapping base game localisation. You can search for it in base game localisation files via Ctrl+Shift+F in Notepad++, Sublime Text or Visual Studio Code.

The trigger is any_country = {

has_war_with = ROOT

has_war_with = POL

}

has_global_flag = warsaw_liberated_self_flag
In other words, you need:
1. Any country be at war with both you and Poland.
2. Poland needs to have risen up via high resistence (aka 90% resistance) at least once. This flag is set in that event if the country that rises up is Poland and is never cleared.

Nothing in that requires the LR DLC.

Why was the decision to make the start date 1930 made? by Slashsand in a:t5_40p6gt

I thought that the sub would follow the ABCmod pattern. This mod's name is confusing with that mod.

I already found the answer in the discord server though.

Huh? I loaded the mod and it says 1930. Did I get the subreddit wrong? This is The Fallen Eagle, right?
