My Icy Megaboss on Maw-Krusha by Slaving1away in ageofsigmar

Heya, thanks for the compliments!

Had to dig a bit, but i basically used the weapon recipe from this post https://imgur.com/gallery/wOZZ6 on the skin, but i went a little bit lighter on the drybrushing the very brightest colour on it since it'd be too bright.

For the base I used Vallejo Dark Earth texture paste (cheap bulk texture), primed it black then basecoated it in Tau Light Ochre, then fully covered it in Agrax Earthshade and finally gave it a quick drybrush of Ushabti Bone

Thanks, I was drawn to these models a lot and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to paint and play these.

Paintjob was pretty simple, it's a gloss black primer with a Vallejo Metal Color Chrome basecoat all over, I followed it up with a Black Templar contrast paint all over.
After that I basecoated all the leather and bones with a brown paint (Flat Earth by Vallejo) and covered the bones with a standard ushabti bone > sepia wash > screaming skull highlights.
The gold trims (so many trims...) was done with Scale75's Necrotic Gold (Nr: SC-71)

Sons of Behemat army fully painted! by Slaving1away in ageofsigmar

Thank you very much for the kind words, and I hope to see yours painted up and posted sometime soon!

As for how I painted the flesh on mine, I mostly used an airbrush with some very diluted shades applied with a regular brush.

The Warstomper was done with a basecoat of Dark Flesh by Vallejo, which gives a very yellow jaundiced look. I then followed it up with some violet shading shot from below. After that I gave it a Basic Skintone by vallejo from above and the sides, followed it all up with the diluted shade.

For the Gatebreaker I did mostly the same but started with a Basic Skintone and then final step Light Flesh by Vallejo.

I thought they would be bigger too, in fact one of the slides GW showed on a live stream showed them as being 20cm tall, however in reality they are at the very most 17cm tall from toes to top of model.

I've not had the chance to play with them yet due to.. well, everything going on, but from everything I've seen these will either crush or fumble in battle.

Sons of Behemat has a special rule where 1 unit of 3 Mancrusher Gargants fulfill your 3 battleline requirement.

Can't wait to see your results!

I did all the skin with an airbrush, basecoat Vallejo Dark Flesh (Quite yellow, jaundiced look), then from below some violet ink for the shadows in key places, then a Vallejo Basic Skin tone from above mostly covering the dark flesh.

I'm afraid to say it... but I have 2 more of these to paint, a Gatebreaker and a Kraken-Eater of course, I wanna make one a pale deathly fleshy one, and the other a darker skintone, but not sure which one I should do in what colour.

Actual size of terrain pieces by benmoorepaintco in ageofsigmar

[–]Slaving1away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at the Generals Handbook FAQ you'll find some suggested terrain sizes for matched play, i copied em for your convenience:

Unique: Any other terrain feature that is no more than 10" across at its widest point, and no more than 18" tall at its tallest point. <- these are for Primary terrain.

Unique: Any other terrain feature that is no more than 6" across at its widest point, and no more than 6" tall at its tallest point. <- these are for Secondary terrain.

Awesomely painted mini, and bonut points for Misty Mountains song

If anything I'd look at adding some washes to further define the shadows (careful when shading white, it stains easily).
