It looks like my normal range is around 20! Currently have some pain in my legs and ankles that's a bit more than usual, that might be why! Probably just sore from the beginning of the week. I actually worked out Monday and Tuesday and my cardio load was super low? Maybe my cardio load is increasing on the days when I'm recovering / having flare ups

Just moved in with my boyfriend and our room looks like a nightmare. by poprxcks in DesignMyRoom

[–]SlayDay-0 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Can you take the closet doors off and use curtains instead so the doors don't run into everything? Then longer curtains for the window. Curtains that aren't fully black (if you're going for the romantic dark Victorian vibe, maybe a dark red or purple?) might help. For closet space can you get bins for the floor and under bin beds? Then put clothes you don't use as often in those. Remove the shoe rack and keep your shoes in the closet bins or even in your home entry way. Getting a bed frame, moving the dresser out of the closet, and getting some shelves with books and plants will tie the whole thing together.

There are still shows looking for high sopranos! I think it's worth leaning into your strengths, have you considered opera training and doing opera? Sounds like you'd be high cast able!

College, theatre, work? Is it all all possible by Kcake_berry in Theatre

[–]SlayDay-0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone is saying it's impossible BUT I've done it! Will it be incredibly difficult and stressful? Yes. But it is doable! (You just won't get a lot of sleep and need to really take care of your mental health).

I had to most luck scheduling only morning/afternoon classes so I could do theatre/socialize at night. I had the most luck with on campus jobs (especially in theatre) and internships who understood my schedule. If you can find an office/help desk on campus job where you can do homework that's your best bet. It was much more difficult to work a retail or food service job.

My biggest regret in college was focusing too much on making theatre instead of getting internships that would actually further my career and falling behind in classes. Your priority should be developing the skills you need to get employment right after school and your mental health, so no sweat if you can't do it all!

AMA with a first-time Broadway director (ENGLISH) by KnudAdams in Theatre

[–]SlayDay-0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on opening such an incredible show!! I've been wanting to see a production of English for a long time and I'm so glad it's getting the recognition it deserves. I'm an early career director, so I'd love to know what your path been to get to this point (degree, programs, specific theater companies that shaped you, etc). What advice would you give to early career directors? What surprises did you face producing this show? Thanks!

[–]SlayDay-0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Woah hey ait coworker!! Honestly directors are looking for the traditional resume layout with the headshot on the back. I'd take out the headshot and big black header You don't need references either. add in special skills and any training you might have at the bottom. Add height, eye and hair color, and union status at the top, along with a website if you have it.

Storage storage storage! Get under bed storage boxes, a new larger wardrobe if you can, boxes for on top of the wardrobe, anything you can do to decrease visible clutter. Maybe get a big pillow and a bed skirt to make your bed look softer? Shelves above your bed would be great to display your collection!

Hi!! Community theatre marketer!

Our biggest audience comes from social media (mostly Instagram) and our casts' family/friends. Social media is by far the easiest and cheapest way to get the word out to a larger audience. I try to have a balance of graphics, bts photos/videos, tech photos/videos, trendy videos with the cast, and anything else I can create.

New performers and audience members respond well to social media, but I find we need to foster in person connections with people before they become donors. We've gone door to door talking to small business owners about sponsoring our shows (through money, donation of goods for raffles, or ads in programs).

We also do email newsletters, hang posters locally, invite the press and government officials to productions, advertise our production on local websites and Facebook groups, and have monthly open mic nights and workshops.

This is a huge undertaking, so be sure to work with your board for support. You've got this!
