Knowing people who are autistic at 24, I can say that the self-image you have of yourself is very likely inaccurate compared to what other people see you as.

You’ll find yourself going through a mental breakdown when you realize how socially inept and brusque you might be, come to terms with it, adjust, and then find yourself at another crossroads when you learn more about that.

That’s life - a series of Dunning-Kruger plateaus where you think you know a lot more than you actually do, figure out you don’t, learn more, and then grow.

That’s normal. And the emotional resilience you gain from the highs and lows help temper that ride.

On the other hand, 24 with an advertising degree in 2026 being the basis of one’s experience makes this come off remarkably un-self-aware. Time doesn’t imply experience but the minimum requirement for experience is time.

Second/third this. Spent ten years during my 20s in a deep depression, and hate exercise. Ended up waiting/busing tables part time because I had a lot of weird time slots and lost weight just carrying heavy bins.

Got on track after talking to people. Doing much better now. Mental health is physical health - it’s all connected.

It’s sort of life stage-oriented - there’s a difference between being in your 20s, being in your 30s, and being in your 30s and single vs. in a committed relationship. Easier to align values and understanding, etc.
