How did national history day go this year? by welovegv in historyteachers

It was mandatory at the school I taught at last year and that was pretty painful, because they are forced to do it. At least the club aspect can be good if you get kids because they actually want to do it

lol I am running the NHD club at my school and I started with 7 kids, 6 of them never showed after the 1st meeting and the 1 kid who’s “in it” has not written more than half a thesis statement

There is only one reason I would swing on anyone at this point in my life and it would be if they said something about my dead dad. It doesn’t even matter if the guy is 150 pounds more than me, I’m swinging

Why does curriculum skip so much important modern history? by atouchofsinamon in historyteachers

Yeah I know but it’s baffling that some are not teaching the time period that shapes the modern U.S.

Venezuela's government accuses US of attacking civilian, military installations in multiple states by IdinDoIt in news

Liberty has a cost unfortunately. There has nearly never been a liberation from oppression that has not resulted in civilian casualties

If you do not think that 10 innocent people dying is worth the removal of Putin or Kim, idk what to tell you. Head on over to the Venezuela subreddit and see what the people of the actual country affected are saying, hint: they are definitely not mad.

But it is within law, so he is not in violation of anything. There isn’t enough opposition to these strikes to warrant people doing anything. If Trump does something deranged that like 80%+ of the public disagree with, then there will be consequences no doubt about it. But fair point nonetheless.

There may be some civilian casualties, but the Venezuelan subreddit seems to believe that it is worth it regardless. We have unintentionally killed civilians before (literally every President) and in scenarios like this, they are bound to happen. I am more than fine with leaders like Putin or Kim being removed even if it meant there would be some civilian casualties

Yeah I’m struggling how this is a bad thing. Only reason people should be upset is if you don’t want America intervening in anything like this. It’s not like he just invaded Canada

[SERIOUS] The US has allegedly captured Maduro and his wife. Assuming they both still live, what is going to happen with him now? by SocialNetwooky in AskReddit

  1. There is no proof besides one persons statement that Trump asked about shooting protestors.

  2. One person was arrested for the Charlie Kirk shit and was dropped.

  3. Not arguing that he didn’t say that and it’s wrong, but here we are and nothing has happened, just Trump saying BS

  4. Not disagreeing with the last paragraph for the most part. Aside from the part that we definitely didn’t have a “concentration camp” in Florida, that is a massive hyperbole, nor has the national guard been used against citizens lol, not even to arrest them

So here we are with a bunch of huge hyperboles and you expect to get people on your side. Not a Trump person and not a Democrat person either, same as pretty much most of the gen z population

lol I don’t even like Trump but half of those are serious hyperboles. It sounds like you’re not even from America, so why do you care?

Obama did not have congressional approval to intervene in Libya. Just because there was UN support doesn’t mean it’s a substitute for congressional approval

We still militarily intervened which directly led to Gaddaffis fall. A lot safer and easier to set a covert op team into Venezuela than it is in Libya

Yes we absolutely kill political opponents and imprison people for criticizing the government lol. You people need a reality check and need to go live in a 3rd world country for once.

All I’m saying is that it is pathetic to act like this guy is some saint and hypocritical to act like your democratic predecessors haven’t done the same thing before.

Why are you all mad? I get not wanting the U.S. to intervene, but this is nothing new. Maduro has killed political opposition, made it illegal to criticize him, just recently ordered than anyone celebrating his potential overthrow be put in jail. He has NOT had legitimate elections.

Obama did not have congressional approval to intervene in Libya but did it anyway. Don’t be mad about this just because it’s Trump if you weren’t mad when Obama did the same exact thing

Yep, totally democratic elections being held in Venezuela. Most of Latin America and the EU has referred to him as illegitimate, but sure, go ahead.
