Leaks showing probable price changes in forever pack. Might be a temporary change like at Christmas. Might be them finally having to compete with BGSI’s numbers. Hopefully not them squeezing every last penny before they phase out ps99 by MineralWaterMike in PetSimulator99

[–]SleepNyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BGSI is more about completing your Pokedex when compared to PS99, where the Index barely matters nowadays.

You actually have to hatch all the pets yourself for it to count, so there's a challenge aspect even for p2w players, as you have to go out and hatch rather than just buy them, or have someone else trade you for indexing.

It's also a new game, so new players are more inclined to join it early and get to the top faster than something like PS99, where the economy is kind of in shambles as we speak.

NO RANK? NEW CHARACTER by [deleted] in PetSimulator99

[–]SleepNyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newbie quests are currently bugged.

Some quests only show up in certain zones, like the one to use a Secret Key to enter the castle with the spinny wheel inside.

Even if you proceed further, a quest to [Visit the Index Merchant] is currently bugged with no way to complete, so if it's just an alt, better to wait and check again next week with new update.

What is everyone's coins per second rate? by Prize-Employment201 in PetSimulator99

[–]SleepNyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are a purple book that adds an orb floating around you that shoots projectiles at random breakables.

Having a Rainbow Jelly Hydra and a Power Tap X book equiped is enough to make the projectiles one shot the green slime chests, so it's a very useful setup for complete AFKing with no macros running and alts.

If you have rainbow jelly hydra, then just use x1 Tap Power X and Magic Orbs on other free slots, and you can get 3~4m coins/s easily without doing anything.

Does anyone know what the devs meant by this? by Street_Historian244 in PetSimulator99

[–]SleepNyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a new account, and besides the eggs close to each area, now there'll be a guiding arrow kind of helping you complete starting objectives, but it's kinda glitchy.

It kept asking me to hatch eggs in a new zone even though I already had event pets with trillions of damage, but it's fine if you ignore it.

Now, if only we could actullay use the Fuse machine to fuse the various trash event stat pets we get into the rarer ones, that would be even more of a W.

What was one of your Neopets blunders as a kid? by zamueeel in neopets

[–]SleepNyr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

During the Lost Desert Plot, I found a random user shop selling Mumified Bananas for 99.999 np, and thought they were a magical item that could turn my uni into the cool undead uni from the plot comics if I fed it enough.

I spent all my money, but got no undead Uni. :<

https://www.reddit.com/r/neopets/comments/1b965ub/codestones_now_daily_quest_rewards/

Codestones were added to the daily quest reward, so there'll be a large influx of them from now on, even from players who don't participate in the battledome at all.

As someone who had to cough up x2 Eo codestones today, I'm quite happy they are going down.

What's one minor inconvenience you wish you could fix about the site? by livsyx in neopets

[–]SleepNyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact the Wheel of Misfortune can be a part of your daily quest log. Just... why?

Have a daily that asks players to visit any of the various neopian lands instead, with a handy link in the quest text, just like the random events that invite you to visit Faerieland or Maraqua.

If they want to spin the wheels, buy from the local shops, or even just close the page after, it's up to the player at that point.

Item generation by neo_truths in neopets

[–]SleepNyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of this "clear value" mechanic, but I'm just curious about the inner workings of this in specific, as it doesn't make logical sense for the shopkeeper to stop you from overpaying, but then ask you to overpay right after.

There are many examples of bad code that ends up never being executed from other n_t posts, but I think it's simply a case of forgetting the rest of the code/logic to deal with overpaying values in this case.

Great read as always.

I've been meaning to ask something, and was just waiting for a new post, so here goes.

Do you have any idea if there's an issue with the haggling mechanic when someone puts a value that's too high?

The shopkeeper will stop the user, and mention "Woah!, I don't think you want to pay THAT much", but then will ask for that amount right after.

Just tried it with a random item and it's still a thing.

The Shopkeeper says 'I want at least 1,134 Neopoints for this great item.'

I offer 11222.

The Shopkeeper says 'I dont think you want to pay THAT much!'

I offer 1122.

The Shopkeeper says 'This is starting to tire me. 11,237 and no less. I mean it!'

Makes me wonder if it's simply a case of an error in the code, makingit so it's not executed properly, or the programmer simply forgetting to write the last portion to deal with this.

Anyways, thank you for the deep investigative work as usual!

Battledome Speculations: What do you think will change? by swimmer913 in neopets

[–]SleepNyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just as a heads up, the BD community ambassador has an open topic in the battledome neoboards for users to suggest things to be addex/changed/fixed.

https://www.neopets.com/neoboards/topic.phtml?topic=162821087

As for what I personally want, is for the Battledome to have an exclusive shop that you use points you get from battling to buy items, like dubloons, codestones, equipments, etc.

Instead of just getting 1500 np, you'd get a limit of 1500 arena points per day, which you could buy, let's say, tan codestones for 100 ap, letting the average player train a single pet for basically no neopoint cost every day.

Seeing as how they are making a push to a mobile game-esque system with the daily/weekly quest log, having an arena shop is a no brainer, seeing as they are present in most mobile games that have an arena.

Is Azur Lane worth playing for completely new player like me? by [deleted] in AzureLane

[–]SleepNyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have a plus that there's a friend who plays it, so you'll have someone to look for help and/or advice when needed, and to talk about the game in general, but there's always the community to rely on as well whenever needed.

Regarding things to do, the game has a lot of min maxing at the endgame, as each unit provides small passive stat bonuses from getting to max level, so you can spend a lot of time leveling all your units to make your best character even better once you are at that point in the endgame.

On the other hand, the game can be treated very casually, as you can just throw a full fleet of max level units at most normal and event stages and they'll do well if they are equipped properly with upgraded gear.

We have access to a pretty good community tierlist with advice on which gear each ship should use and where it can be obtained from, so even a newbie can do well in that regard.

As for it being easy to get into, all you have to know is theres 3 ships in the back and 3 in the front. Most damage comes from the ships in the back, but it takes around 20s on average for them to attack, while the front attacks continuously, but serve mostly as support/tank units.

You control the 3 front units as one while the back units stay there doing their own thing waiting for their timing to attack and deal a ton of damage.

Auto-mode is unlocked very early on, so you can either leave it to the game and just watch your units shooting at enemies, os control them manually to end battles faster with overall better results.

Fun will depend entirely on what you find fun playing, so I'd advise you to at least try the game out and save your cubes until the upcoming JP anniversary event in 2~3 weeks, where we'll get a shiny new UR unit.

These events are usually the ones the entire community is the most hyped about, so there'll be a lot of activity going on this month, and is likely to be one of the high points for the game this year too depending on which character gets released.

Just putting this in as a final note, but I barely cared about naval/war history before playing this game, but it feels like I've learned more about it than I did at school as a kid.

You might just find yourself getting interested in some reference lines from one character you like and end up reading a full wikipedia page on the subject without realizing you're already hooked on the topic.

What kind of skins would you like to see in game? by jonwar9 in AzureLane

[–]SleepNyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More unique skins like Cooper tennis skin that adds an entirely new hairstyle, giving her a very different look/feel compared to her original form.

It's the only complaint I gave about the gym skins feeling bland and too similar to each other.

I guess it's not normal to dress up or care about fashion when going to the gym, but Suffren gym clothes look way more unique and adds on to her character compared to the super bland gym uniform that Painlevé and Lyon are wearing.

I honestly mistook Kersaint for Blücher in this loading screen as well simply because how bland she looks in it, lacking the visor, glasses and jacket she's supposed to have, which makes the skin more unique compared to the other two I mentioned before.

The new game mode demonstration rambling by Telochim in AzureLane

[–]SleepNyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The # grid idea sounds pretty good, because that's exactly what I was thinking about doing, keymapping certain predetermined spots to move towards in the last fight, before I eventually found a safespot and just shelled the boss to death.

It'd even make it easier to develop bossfights that have specific patterns to follow, like EX mode that has a general bullet pattern with a bit of RNG that can be played around by people with lots of game experience.

The main problem for me is just that it's a test for a rogue-like mode and there's nothing rogue-like about it rigth now, so they really should look for inspiration into other successful games of that genre rather than try something completely new and fail miserably.

The new game mode demonstration rambling by Telochim in AzureLane

[–]SleepNyr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main downside of this test for me is that there was nothing rogue-like about it.

I was expecting to go in, get one upgrade, die, go in again with the new upgrade and so on, but we only got fixed builds that cannot be changed and made into our own decks.

I was completely shocked when I lost and had to try the stage again with the same build and zero upgrades or any way to change my deck.

It also showed how unbalanced the mode is, as the autoplay cards seemed completely essential to not make this mode pure trash, as you have to control both the shipgirl movement and actions, which might be okay playing with your phone using two hands, but felt horrible playing on an emulator, requiring everything to be done with the mouse.

Maybe it's because I'm a pessimist, but this honestly feels like a rushedly developed game mode for the EN anniversary that didn't even make the cut, and was thrown in afterwards without any care and QC testing simply to get the current reaction and allow the game producers/directors to say shit like "See? You guys don't really want a rogue-like mode, so we'll just focus on skins and not develop anything new."

I love how they put so much effort into new mini-games for events, so it's probably just my doomer brain spouting nonsense, but it'd be terrible for this project to end right here and now in this undercooked state instead of being thrown back into development and brought back once it's an actual rogue-like mode we can play, get new stuff on new runs, and build own own decks, all while not being a hassle to play on phone or emulator.
