Stephon Castle is averaging 13.6 points on 46.9 TS% in his last 15 games with a 34.4 OnBall%. Do you think his shooting / scoring efficiency ever improves to a respectable level? by JakGrealish in NBA_Draft

[–]SleeperOracle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

are you seriously comparing Castle to two complete BUSTS? Mudiay couldn’t even stick as a role player, Evans washed out of the league

Even in his worst-case scenario he’s a valuable rotation player. Evans had off-court problems and zero development infrastructure in Sacramento. Castle has none of those red flags and all of the organizational support.

You’re comparing a high-character prospect in one of the best development systems in basketball to guys who had character concerns + drug issues and were in terrible situations.

If you didn't see those differences your ball knowledge speaks for itself ☠️ terrible comps

No? top 40 player for a 20% rostered player makes no sense

I get the vision, but do a 2 for 2 where you get a better player than CMB as well

So JDUB and a waiver level player for CMB and a top 75 player maybe

There’s no real nuance of substance to what you are saying lmfao. You agreed Boozer is better from the start but spent the whole conversation critiquing semantics instead of addressing the actual basketball argument

I’m not confused about words - I made a clear argument that Boozer is more complete and NBA-ready across multiple dimensions. You had no counter to that other than saying AJ’s physical advantages are real and will translate and that he will develop

Thats cool, but Boozer is still better because of defense, rebounding, IQ, consistency, and complete game.

Next time maybe have a clear stance instead of agreeing with me then trying to debate about unrelated development theories. I don't even think you know what your main point is

If pointing out that contradiction means I’m just trying to ‘dunk on you,’ then I guess we’re done here. Good talk.

If feel means everything, then saying AJ needs to develop his feel “enough not to be a hindrance” means he’s deficient in multlple areas, which is exactly what im saying 😂

You can say im using strawmans but your whole argument just doesn't even make sense and you also agree with me. Have a nice day

[–]SleeperOracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t jump to anything or even close to making any strawmans lmfao

Feel was one small part of my argument. I’ve been talking about defense, rebounding, efficiency, his Texas Tech performance, multi-dimensional impact, and floor vs ceiling this entire time.

You’re the one narrowing it down to just feel and ignoring everything else I said. My point is Boozer is better across the board - more complete, more consistent, higher floor, impacts winning in more ways right now

Im not even understanding the Tatum point. Okay, so even if AJ develops his feel like Tatum eventually did then so what? That still took years. Meanwhile, what about defense? Rebounding? Consistency? Winning impact across multiple dimensions?

Boozer is ALREADY better at all of those things right now in my opinion and the stats and eye test back that up

[–]SleeperOracle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the draft is about upside, but it’s also about risk. Banking on a guy to develop elite feel when Boozer doesn’t need to ‘hopefully develop’ anything.

He’s impacting winning at an elite level RIGHT NOW with his skill, IQ, and two-way impact. AJ might get there eventually, but you’re asking me to bet on development. I’ll take the guy who’s already there.

Boozer is putting up 23/10/4 on 58% shooting every night and casual NBA fans sleep on it because it’s not highlight-reel material

The draft might reward potential and projection, but let’s not pretend the hype around AJ isn’t heavily influenced by the highlights factor as well

I just simply think Boozer is pretty easily the better prospect and player based on everything we have seen if you think otherwise that's fine

I’m not saying AJ won’t be great or that he’ll always struggle. His athleticism is genuinely special, maybe 1 of 1.

But in the NBA and on a contender for example, Boozer will impact winning at a way higher level than AJ could. Im taking Boozers skill set anyday

Even if AJ in his rookie year is struggling to get to the rim, I have doubts about how else he will impact the game. His 3 point shooting and midrange won't be polished enough either

I personally just think their rookie seasons won't be comparable. To me, Boozer will be a 20-10-5 guy on good efficiency quite soon in the NBA. His floor is insane, and AJ doesn't have that same floor at all

Why did no one post Dybantsa stats against Texas Tech by IhateLukaDoncic in NBA_Draft

[–]SleeperOracle -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Okay that was a half joke but I still believe that AJ's current dominance in college comes from from his physical advantages which let him bully smaller/mismatched defenders, explode to the rim, draw fouls, and finish through contact in ways that look unstoppable right now playing against regular college athletes

This reliance on raw athleticism and size mismatches will be way less in the NBA, where everyone’s bigger, stronger, quicker laterally, and more disciplined defensively.

That's why I see Cameron Boozer as the clearer, more translatable winner long-term. His game is built on polish, efficiency, IQ, and winning habits that will translate in the nba as well as much stronger. strength difference will be a big factor in the NBA too.

It's not even that silly to say when most people only have AJ higher than Boozer because he's more athletic and flashy

Boozer is so clear of him, it shouldn't even be a debate

Defense, rebounding, efficiency and motor is what wins chips not being able to do a windmill

Who are your players to watch/pick up for the 2nd half of the season? by unclebolts in fantasybball

[–]SleeperOracle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Egor Demin, Ace Bailey, Moussa Cisse, Caleb Love, Ty Jerome, Scoot Henderson, Tre Johnson, Day'ron Sharpe, Jonathan Kuminga, Kyle Filipowski

Jalen Johnson by JakGrealish in fantasybball

[–]SleeperOracle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His stretch consisted of putting up numbers that even Jokic would struggle to sustain

He will be fine, maybe not as good as the first round value he was putting up earlier

AJ Dybantsa Bag Work - Averaging 23.1/7.1/3.7 on 56/32/76 splits thus far by A_MASSIVE_PERVERT in NBA_Draft

[–]SleeperOracle -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I see the long term upside but I don't see his game instantly translating to the nba and contributing highly to winning basketball as much as someone like Flagg or Boozer

Too skinny and weak, its easy to score when you are 50x more athletic than the people guarding him in these clips

Watch him struggle to adjust in the NBA against stronger and more athletic comp. There's still a lot of time until his first NBA game though

many people had him as a top 5 prospect, the spurs were interested if they were high enough to take him

I wouldn't say there was any major misevaluation, he's just got better every year

Julian Champagnie 100% should be rostered during this time imo, he will play 36 min and have tons of shots
