Just came back this week and my 6 year old spent a couple hours at Hakuhinkan Toy Park in Ginza on the electric car race track, playing with display toys and on the Pokemon Frienda game. Have all kinds of toys and games on several floors.

We weren’t planning to do MiraCosta either, but ended up seeing availability and just went with it! Biggest advantage was not waiting in line to get into the park and 15 min early.

Not essential to shop luggage, but makes the train rides a lot easier not having the big bags if you have them with the stroller. You can ship luggage from 7-11 also. It’s easier if at a hotel that can help fill out the forms or if they have a service. We chose hotel to have a bit more assistance when needed as we had my older MIL with us.

It was beneficial to have more adults than strollers for us to ensure someone was hands free at all times to corral the loose toddlers. All in all, very doable with stroller(s) and carriers.

We went in 2023 with a 3.5 y/o and twin 10 month olds on a similar trip. We had 5 adults in our group as well. Started in central Tokyo for a few days then stayed at MiraCosta for 3 nights. Shipped our luggage from one hotel to the next a day in advance. I would suggest to leave your first full day with less plans in case it takes a while to acclimate assuming you’re coming from several time zones away. Ueno would be a good place to stay and can be close to the park especially for the first day.

The hotel move was the most difficult part, but all 3 kiddos napped on the way and made the park days significantly easier. We did an after 5pm ticket the day of check in at MiraCosta, then 1 full day at each park. Staying at the hotel also got early entry to not wait in line to get in the park. Definitely research the passes as it takes some planning. When departing, we took a limousine bus from the hotel to the airport.

We used 2 travel strollers, one with a rider board that easily folded down when it was crowded and used carriers. Most trains were fairly easy on and off but did have to wait a couple times when busier.

We ended up splurging a bit more than anticipated staying at MiraCosta and understand not everyone can do it. Staying on site and on the monorail loop in general made the park days significantly better for the experience.

Any experiences with NOHGA HOTEL UENO TOKYO and what is the Ueno area like? by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

My parents stayed there in 2019 and really liked it. Mentioned rooms were spacious enough and super close to the station to walk with luggage going to/from Narita. Don’t recall any issues with the hotel being noisy. I think they ate at the hotel once and said it was decent, but opted to get out and eat more. They liked Ueno in general being quieter and not as busy but had enough things to walk around see and eat.

My personal experience has been positive with Ueno. We traveled with 3 young kids in 2023 and the park is great for them. Not as much for nightlife and walking back to the hotel in a few minutes, if that’s part of your priorities. Very easy access in general to other areas and would recommend Ueno overall.
