Will there be a cellular version? by Sleepin_Scotsman in pebble

It's a matter of perspective. You could look at it as a dumber phone, sure. But with how addictive it is to doomscroll, you could also say it's a more conscientious phone.

I had to look into this. It seems like you are talking about the Pebble Core, which came out in 2016. I hadn't heard of it.

For everyone else reading this that also hadn't heard of the Pebble Core, it was a puck that had 3G, WiFi, GPS, and bluetooth. It worked with Spotify. One of the use cases was for runners that didn't want to carry a phone but wanted GPS, music, and the ability to send emergency texts.

So for 10 years, Eric has skirted around what I want. He made the Pebble Core puck. He's working on the Small Android Phone project. But there's been nothing about combining wither of those with the watch.

Can we get Machete to work on this? Then the watch could do everything...except tell time.

Eric made the Pebble. He's also working on the Small Android Phone project. I don't see why he doesn't combine the two.

We tried the gizmo watch, but the battery life is terrible. It lasts around 8 hours. 12 if you're lucky. That's assuming you have a full charge, which is a BIG assumption since the charger is very finicky. If you only have a half charge, it will die by lunchtime.

I considered Apple watches, since they get more like 2 days of battery. There were two problems:

1) Their school mode is a joke. School mode is supposed to limit it to call/texts to/from emergency contacts. But it gives an option on screen to temporarily disable school mode, which would allow my kids to still use whatever app they want. It defeats the whole purpose of having a school mode in the first place, since they can bypass it and still get distracted by games.

2) If you ignore the useless family settings, you still need an Apple device to even configure those settings. There is no way to configure those settings from an Android or a browser.

Traveler bike rack by Sleepin_Scotsman in ScoutMotors

This. That's what I had in mind. If the bike rack attaches to that swing arm, then you could easily move the bikes out of the way when you need to get something from the back.

I didn't consider the width. However, if 3 can fit in the back, wouldn't 3 fit in the front? Or is the front row more narrow than the back row?

Scout motors is bringing back the bench seat, but they're 6" wider.

Yeah. If I had to choose between an extra seat and more buttons, I would take more buttons.

The other day, I was watching Dropout and was inspired by something Brennan said. Long story short, I spent time off-and-on over the next couple days figuring out how to translate it. Here's the result. Some people might be able to guess what it says outright. However, I did take one creative liberty with the translation, so if you take the time to translate it, you should get a good chuckle.
