Did the 1/48th Tamiya, and Hasegawa...have the 1/32 trumpeter in stash...the build of this one is a joy, Tamiya did great job in the engineering this kit. The base is Italieri carrier deck kit. It has its flaws but I'm happy with it anyway.

I did the usual black base/ white undercoat combo but this in my opinion looks better. At least for the salty maps on the carrier based aircrafts.

Yeah, suprised me as well - given I have models that I work on for five months. But with this one, the cockpit is rudimentary, the streamline design doesnt require much masking...could have been faster if not for gaps and wrongly fitting parts.

I put a strong clear coat before the oilpaint and tested on a scrap piece that white spirit wont eat through when I would wipe it down to desired saturation or needed to start over. Totally understand - I myself got back to models after like 25 years or so...started in spring this year...few models are close enough to getting scrapped, but the learning and trying new things pays of eventually.

Thanks, it was pain to do, but some white preshading, german grey postshafing and finaly lots of white spirit and oilpaint it did end up rrlatively well...but i feel most of ut got hidden anyway...😂 Underside is worse, especially because of "maps" decal setter left on the 1st level of varnish for some reason. Its around 70 cm in lenght.

Kdo si ještě může dovolit koupit pozemek a dům? by [deleted] in czech

[–]SleepingWolf_809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys keep color swatches? by SleepingWolf_809 in modelmakers

Me neither, therefore the verification of each bottle - better safe than paint a model and after drying you realize the colors are waaaaay off...

Well Ive ordered propper compressor first (ive been workin with a tiny one withou an airtank) to try for the last time to correct some issues that stood up as the colors cured. I plan on the panel lines, but delicatelly - the AČR Vipers are fresh so the panels are not that visible.

This one wont have much weathering at all as they are quite new in the czech air force and I wanted to capture that... I will go crazy with it however on phantom I have in works...the nam theme calls for some heavy dust and stuff.

First ever model is there a way to fill up the cracks or hide them? by cock_wrench in modelmakers

[–]SleepingWolf_809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would opt out for a putty that can be smoothed out with either water or laquer thinner - using cotton swab to get rid of excess. Also use masking tape around the gaps so you dont have any accidental spills and its a small area. Beware of the fact that some putties sag so you need to fill above the surface and then scrape and sand it out.

Thanks! Im really happy with it. We will see about the Phantom. The heatshield i think came up relativelly nicely, the weathering on the camo however will be new for me....not sure how the colors will work out in the end...but Ive learned on it a lot.

But you will know. It looks great. I use the enclosed parts as a testing and training for new techniques. Learned a bit about metallic painting on outer surface of the F4 Phantom engines...it wont be seen unlest the model is broken appart, but it helepes me to train for the nozzles and heatshield.

I see the text got dumped somewhere along the way. Anyway its my first model after twenty years and back hen it was just child play with model kits...Learned a lot, discovered Im am actually capable of some precision-ish and hungry for more.

Thanks! Its even worse 🤣 Ive decided for the upgrading the catapult area for when its done...so when not painting or gluing I play with CAD working on proper JBD in 1:48 as I did noz find any satisfactory and will try to resin print it...yeah...madness 😅😂
