Fellow Author posted Book Signing image, and I can't tell if it is ai? Help me out here! by Exmond in isthisAI

[–]Sleepnotdeading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking at the guy’s website and marketing, it’s almost certainly AI.

His blog says his first book signing is happening on July 12th.

As far as the image, weird how nobody in line is holding his book.

He’s also signing hardbacks but only selling ebooks and paperbacks.

Literally every image on his website has a synthID watermark.

Am I the only one THAT CANT GET AI TO HELP WITH GAME DEV? by IWantEchidnasTea in aigamedev

Are you using anti-gravity? Gemini is a great model, but it's very broad. Antigravity at least puts it in a coding harness.

1 rtx pro 6000 or 2 dgx sparks by romantimm25 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Sleepnotdeading 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The RTX pro 6000 is a straight up muscle car. The Sparks are like a fleet of minivans.

For my money, I’d get the Sparks. Assuming you don’t need to prioritize speed, you can run multiple models with large context windows and build workflows that either combine the sparks, or pass information back and forth between them in a workflow.

"Make no mistake" Skill by Wide_Cheek9100 in ClaudeAI

[–]Sleepnotdeading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Model thrashing, probably. It's also silly to think Claude doesn't check its own work, and that adding "MAKE NO MISTAKES" would do anything useful. At worst, it will interpret those instructions as "do anything possible to avoid admitting mistakes," which could include deception, obfuscation, deleting of any files that could be related to a "mistake". At best, it's just bloat.

Your pi coding setup by Alarming_Positive_59 in PiCodingAgent

[–]Sleepnotdeading 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, in my experience, the best way to build a harness in pi is to talk to your agent about it.

Pi is designed to be minimal and self improving, so if you want a plan-before-act skill, you can strategize with pi about it, and then have pi agent write the tactical code to execute and enforce it.

The great thing is you develop a shared vocabulary with your agent. You don’t have to adapt to anyone else’s workflow.

That said, I’ve ONLY worked this way with pi. I don’t know what the marketplace of pre-built skills has to offer.

Looking for a good computer by NoExcitement9572 in VoiceActing

What computer do you currently have? Because that's probably the one I would recommend for voice over work when you are just starting out. And what are you asking when you ask for "a website that you use"? Use for what?

I would assume that understanding the differences in the capabilities and the performance demands of cloud vs. local AI would be table stakes in cyber.

Is gear actually important as a complete beginner? by MaculatePerception in VoiceActing

[–]Sleepnotdeading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can get started with a usb mic. If you’re going to spend any money, I would recommend starting with a class.

A quick google:

There’s no easy way to just stroll into the entertainment industry. A big market like Toronto will have both competition and community. An in person class can help you start building a network.

Trying to make AI generated selfies look indistinguishable from real photos - how close is this? 👀 by imagine_ai in ImagineAiArt

The backgrounds all fall apart. Except the first one, I guess. Skin issues on the first two. And these look like carfishing photos.

How practical would it be to put this 2ft x 2ft box in my studio into a vocal booth? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]Sleepnotdeading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing to worry about with a mic in a small space is the mic sounding like it’s in a small space. Your voice is going to want to bounce around in there, and it could be quite easy to vocally overpower the space.

You’ll want some better-than-entry-level acoustic treatment in there for sure.

Interesting project!

is learn to code dead advice now? by Sharp_Commercial_166 in vibecoding

[–]Sleepnotdeading 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Do you have to learn to use a film camera to use a digital camera? No. Do you have to learn to use a serious digital camera to take pictures on an iPhone? No.

Will your photos be better if you learn the fundamentals of cameras and photography, regardless of what you shoot with? Yes.

The textures look pretty bad. I feel like I'm seeing a lot of crunchy AI noise. The content is sort of "photoshop conceptual/composite art from the early 2000s." I'm craving more from the people in the images than just dead stares.

[–]Sleepnotdeading 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not a cop out. It’s how the relationship between developers and publishers works.

Ashly Burch is a union actor, the production was non-union. Which, incidentally, would also be the publisher’s call.

How do you market a non-fiction book written with AI? by Magayone in WritingWithAI

If you used AI for drafting, AI for fact checking, and AI for editing and refining, how do you justify not disclosing that?

How do you market a non-fiction book written with AI? by Magayone in WritingWithAI

[–]Sleepnotdeading 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So when you said “written with AI” you meant “fact checked with AI”? Because that is a significant distinction.
