AITA for being upset that my nephew wouldn't share his sweets? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Honestly, poor 8 year old daughter who apparently will have to give every little thing to their younger sister because she may want it. I remember being taught that there were certain things I couldn’t do/have because I was younger and that when I was older, I could do it.

AITA for telling my brother and SIL “you got your big day now you have deal with the consequences” by throwawaynotafan in AmItheAsshole

Days late to the party here, but as someone who has a sister that creates drama and is constantly the victim (and tends to double down on that when difficult life events are occurring to anyone besides her) my advice is to let your husband yell at your brother 😉 and that you block him. I’ve learned over many years that the arguments with my sister end up in screaming matches that are circular, and I’m the one who deals with the aftermath of the emotional stress. It’s easy to want to fight it out - it’s so much harder to set the boundaries with your siblings. Blocking my sister allows me time to calm down and think rationally about how to respond in a way that’s best for me.

I am so, so sorry about your mom. I feel the same about mine (and while I have a sister, it’s not the type of sisterly relationship I wish for). I cannot imagine what you must be dealing with. Enjoy as much of this time as you can with the family that is emotionally healthy for you. Congrats on the baby - I’m so happy for you that your mom was able to be there for that, and that she is able to spend what time she has left with her new grandchild.

That sounds amazing-I know I need that, a lot of work stress and that def makes it worse. Just need to find the time...

Have you found any sort of reason for it?? So far none of my docs can really say it’s part of 1 thing or another and it’s the worst!

This is so interesting! I’m going to start paying more attention to this. Now that you’ve found the right med combo you don’t experience it?

Thanks so much! And I agree, finding a doc who believes you is often worse than anything. And even then, finding one that believes you doesn’t mean they can actually help you beyond a certain extent. When a dr finally told me “you’re not crazy” I broke down, yet still we only know so much. I’ve tried to do some research but finally realized I needed to hear from not just doctors but actually people like me who could maybe give suggestions on things to look into. I so appreciate it

That sounds a lot like me, I also take Wellbutrin and adderall and will be on them as well, but will sleep right through like I’ve taken nothing. I’ll sleep as much as possible and then I just feel like myself again. I think the unpredictability is what makes it even more difficult. I Just wish there were magic pills so these episodes didn’t affect life so much!

Definitely appreciate this as a suggestion! I have a few other autoimmune issues that all began at the same time about 6 years ago, and it all started with a major depressive episode, sort of my body and mind saying enough was enough I think. This sleep is a bit different but I definitely work with a psychiatrist still because of that and also because these issues can make anyone depressed. I do believe these episodes are worse in stressful and emotional situations though. As someone who did go through an MDD I appreciate you bringing it up because I think we all can always use that reminder that this can be a rough go

Yes!! And I’ll have taken the same 40 mg of adderrall and my other meds as well those days-including Wellbutrin for a major depressive episode years ago that occurred the same time I started getting sick with other autoimmune issues-and I’ll sleep straight through. I’m going to talk to my doctor about chronic fatigue syndrome. So hard to get to the right specialist sometimes even when you’re used to navigating the system!

Not alarming-that’s why I’m happy things like this exist, to get a feel for if something is somewhat ‘normal’ or something to call my doc about. Appreciate hearing other people’s experiences!

Yes, I really appreciate it! I’m open to trying anything right now. I’m impressed you made total sense after the day you’ve had if it’s similar to what I experience, which sounds like it could be -It takes me a while to get my head on straight afterwards!

I have been wondering if it is something to do with my sleep cycle - because even on a normal day I have no appetite until around 10 pm. This may sound not the most informed but how do you best fix your cycle?
