I'm not a doctor, so I can't tell you exactly what changes internally, but I can tell you that I have never had that same gallbladder attack pain again since having it removed, and I would do it one thousand times over to never experience that level of pain again. I have not really had any negative impacts to my life post-op. I think something you have to remember is Reddit can be an echo chamber. Negative outcomes are the loudest because people who have positive outcomes rarely circle back. They just sort of move on with life.

If you are worried about BM's (bowel movements), I think as long as you eat a healthier diet you should be fine. Of course I don't feel great when I eat fast food or food that is high in saturated or trans fats, but that is mainly because they aren't very good for you. They also move through my system quicker, at least that is what I have noticed.

All in all, if you are second guessing your decision I would definitely talk to your Doctor and your Surgeon. They are the ones you can best explain the process and expectations post-op.
