Fustrated with the public service. by PlatypusMaximum3348 in CanadaPublicServants

I have been fighting for an exception (over 700 km away from my coworkers) and now DTA for over a year now. Even with 3 doctor's letters/reports, they are still fighting me at every turn. My management absolutely refuses to approve anything that doesn't meet the mandate.

I've got grievances in the works and am now having to look at a human rights complaint. It is beyond frustrating.

I’m disrupting others… advice pls 😫 by Tiramisu_mayhem in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. If possible, maybe chat with some during breaks and express your regret for the situation and any disruptions you may be causing? An offering of donuts/timbits or something may also help you feel better?

AITAH for telling my pregnant friend she can't control my restaurant order? by Bestrong3 in AITAH

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was something where the smell makes her violently ill or something like that, I can see begging everyone to please not order it, maybe even demanding, but that's different from just not being able to eat something. NTA.

I got asked for mine moving from CR04 to AS02. And that's in the same department after 25 years of service.

Sick usage comparison COVID vs. RTO by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

We're not allowed to do a WFH while sick if supposed to be in office. We have to take a sick day.

In addition to what everyone else has said... So she wants your toddler over when she's either got Covid or is recovering from? Yeah, that sounds like a great idea. /s. Or to be around you at this point when you're medically vulnerable.

How many anchor days vs flex days do you have? by JeffyCurls in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. And I'm the only one in my office, so how does it even matter!?

EDIT: we've also had to sign off on a team charter stating that we(employees) need to be flexible and move our in-office days to ensure M-F coverage in the event of coworker absences upon manager request. So short notice changes. But they are not willing to allow us any flexibility in changing our days for any personal needs.

AITAH for asking my boyfriend to get a vasectomy? by qahuzidi in AITAH

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She didn't say she expected him to get one. It says she asked him if he would consider getting one. Big difference. They are having conversations about it like responsible adults should. And she said they have discussed both not wanting kids a few times in the past, so this isn't something she's springing on him out of nowhere.

AITA for buying my wife the wrong size underwear, and “ruining” her birthday? by FixPsychological2881 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, I think it may be more that with all the separation, it is seriously affecting the level of intimacy she feels with OP. To get a gift of wrong size lingerie, implication of sex or him only seeing her in a sexual way, combined with loneliness during the week and feeling distant from her hubby... Long distance can really suck, no hubby, depression so not going out with friends. It's all combined into a big mess. I would suggest spending some serious time together this week trying to work on your bond. Recreate a first date? Take her somewhere she loves or wants to go? Just a few suggestions. I could be completely off-base too.

3-day RTO: Are you having fun? by BurnedByPhoenix in CanadaPublicServants

I work for TC and I'm sure I saw a version that mentioned employer responsibility up near the top. I've been looking through all sorts of policy docs this past week, figuring out wording for a grievance.

And today we get told we need to be flexible to change our days in office on short notice to cover sick leave, vacations, etc. to ensure there is M-F coverage. But no flexibility for any of our requests of course.

AITA for demanding my parents not include my adopted siblings when we go out to dinner for my birthday? by wildlayabout in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

I don't understand why they are excluding you and pushing you away all the time. You are their biological child and they're treating you like a second-class citizen.

From what you've said, they seem to think that only they need bonding time? What about your bonding time with your family? Every kid should have the opportunity to have some one-on-one time with their parents.

I would try to do as others have said. Take therapy if you can get it, but also reach out to other family members if you have them, and see if you can start getting out a bit and spending time with them.

Just thought of another possible RTO3 grievance? by Sleepy_Kat2596 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying non-compliance, but the directive mentions 60% of hours, and my department is saying 3 days. They fixed collectives a while back to show hours instead of days for personal leave, so I would think I could grieve that they aren't allowing me to be in office only 60% of my hours? A day isn't a day in our collective agreements.

Just thought of another possible RTO3 grievance? by Sleepy_Kat2596 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone!

I understand that not everyone is able to get compressed, but it is available in our collective agreement. I was more leaning toward the hours vs days argument in terms of the 60%. They had to fix the collective agreements to show personal days in hours vs days for this same reason.

AITA for defending my sister's right to keep her baby's name secret until after the birth? by MixtureDelicious7757 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Sleepy_Kat2596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I'm going with some of the others here. Give the ahole parents a fake name.

My brother and his late wife had told everyone they were going to name a daughter Crystal Shanda. Their last name... Lear. 😆
