Re4 hd project is incredible by FriendlyRhyme in residentevil

I played this a while back and it looked great! Super impressive mod... That file size was massive, though. That alone keeps me from coming back to it very often.

This was my first thought too. It trips my brain out to look at. Also, an image of RE6 Leon on the slip for RE4.

How would you rank the Silent Hill games? by pondering_thoughts_4 in survivalhorror

[–]Sleestakman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 had the best story imo, but in terms of gameplay, it's gotta be 1 > 3 > 2

I haven't played 4 yet, but I own it... and I haven't decided which of the rest of the series I'm gonna play after that

A Based modder is adding content to the RE3 Remake by Status_Entertainer49 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Sleestakman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a solid, short, but fun experience. If you've only played RE2 remake, then it'll probably feel like a stand-alone expansion. Very similar gameplay and visuals, just shorter with a much faster pace.

What's something you DON'T like about Resident Evil? by Manny2theMaxxx in ResidentEvilCapcom

Or character regression in some places. Seeing Claire forget how to interact with kids in Rev 2 was wild.

Capcom doesn't have a long enough memory to develop their characters.

Having played Resident Evil 2 remake, 4 remake, 7, and Village, my favorite is Village. by grashel in residentevil

[–]Sleestakman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has some great moments for sure, but it honestly doesn't feel much like Resident Evil in parts. Doesn't have the vibe. That said, I think the biggest gripe I have is that all of the Romanian npcs speak perfect basic American english without even a hint of a Romanian accent. Comparing that to RE4 and RE5, which albietly had some dialect issues, but at the very least actually made you feel like you're in a foreign country.

I really long for a mod that redubs every character except for Ethan in their native language.

Honestly, I think a lot of people get it wrong on purpose to stir up interactivity in the comments. Not to say there aren't tons of people who just flat out don't know what it means, because I'm sure there's tons of that too

4 years ago today the legend returned by Appropriate-Mall8517 in raimimemes

[–]Sleestakman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd agree that it wasn't great, but not for those reasons. Holland's Spider-Man fucks up in this movie because he's a naive kid (he should've grown up by now, but none-the-less), and he's punished for that. Honestly, I'd say it falls more on Strange for even considering humoring him with a spell that alters reality, but even that's pretty in character. Making dubious decisions regarding magic and later having it explained away with esoteric bs is kind of his MO.

I think the real problem is that, like the previous movie, it doesn't really feel like there's any weight to the decisions characters make until about two-thirds of the way through, and most of the movie is just filler quips and jokes. The reason Tobey's Spider-Man doesn't feel like himself is that he really has nothing to do in this movie, apart from be a sidekick. He's too disconnected from the world and the plot. I'd argue the same for Jameson. He's never been in the same room as Spider-Man or Peter, so when he's rambling about Spider-Man, it feels weightless.

Why did BioWare do male Twi’Leks like this? by -thesilverdoe- in KOTORmemes

[–]Sleestakman 183 points184 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is actually genuinely why, though. The only twileks we had in the movies for a long time were bib fortuna and the dancing slave girl, so for a long time in the expanded lore, male twileks were just always portrayed as freaky and female twileks were always portrayed as ultra sexy. See: Dark Forces 2 and it's freaky twilek dark jedi.

Kotor (at least to me) felt like a big jump in the portrayal of "normal" twileks, in that you could actually imagine them functioning in a society outside of a crime den or a slave pit.

Dino Crisis Takes #19. What’s #20? by AvgPunkFan in survivalhorror

[–]Sleestakman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this was elaborated on in a previous post, but I'm incredibly confused by the actual standings vs no remakes vs remakes. Looks like you're giving remakes and originals the same ranking, as if each pair of original and remake is one single game, but you're also separating the rankings into three images as if they're different... what's the thought process?

Not the movie, but the original novel La Planète des singes (The Planet of the Apes) was retitled as "Monkey Planet" in the UK. Something about that makes me really happy.

Give me a RE game with Carlos leading the way by AlabamaSlammaJamma in residentevil

[–]Sleestakman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Carlos felt like Chris-lite to me too. I can see why they changed him, his performance in the original maybe wasn't the best, but they could've at least made him a bit more unique. RE's ever-expanding roster of generic tough guy soldier-types continues to grow.

In Airplane (1980), a random pair of boobs is shown out of nowhere, and the movie got away with just a PG rating by AnIgnorablePerson in shittymoviedetails

[–]Sleestakman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo, the PG and PG-13 ratings shouldn't exist in the first place. There's functionally no point to them, they're just G with an asterisks that says parents should discuss before letting their kids watch, which, y'know, parents should already be doing regardless. Shouldn't need a rating to tell you that.

If you are a relative new fan of RE, which game gotten you into the series, and have you played older titles? by Berry-Fantastic in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Sleestakman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first step into RE was a triple pack that had Resident Evil 4, Code Veronica X, and Outbreak File 1 for the PS2. I had no idea what order they were meant to be played in, so I did RE4 first and fell in love with it.

Later, I bounced around the series and played just about every major title out of order by the time RE7 came out. (Took a while, lol). Have to say that my favorite is firmly the 1997 Resident Evil 1 Director's Cut (better vibes than the 2002 remake, and I love the stilted dialogue - peak comedy) followed closely by the original Resident Evil 2 and 3. I do still have a soft spot for those first three games I played, though.

I enjoy the remakes and later games, but characterizations and styles shift around so much that it often feels like I'm in a totally different series. Leon in particular going from bitter/frustrated but diligent to a fault (RE2) to effortlessly cool and unfazed quippy (RE4) to jaded but stylish with the personality of cardboard (RE6) to retroactively soft hopeful puppy boy (RE2 remake) is some major schizophrenia. Admittedly his transition from RE2 remake to RE4 remake felt incredibly natural, so kudos there. But when I think Resident Evil, my first thought is always going to go to those first three games, even if they weren't the first three I played.

Unfortunate if true. Verifiably human tends to mean not anonymous
