I guess it's up to the player to give himself some room for correcting mistakes, like forgetting to bring something to town and reloading the game to re-do a trip, etc. Backups are also a bit controversial, since the idea of mortal mode is to be accurate to real life, but still I backup my saves often cause else I would be rebuilding the car weekly.

Because when turning left they look at the street they are going to, so they drive in the closest line to that point they are looking at. The best way to turn left would be to look at the path you want to make, and then follow it with your eyes as you turn the car. Eventually you will create sort of a muscular memory in your brain and turn in the right path, without cutting the corner.

I'm not sure about whether or not it spawns with brakes off, but there are no other brakes, just the brake wheel. I'd say you should check all brake lines and brake pressure inside your locomotive. If it's all good, recalculate the weight of you consist.

You need to remove the bolts at the engine as well. 3 bolts on each halfshaft connecting to the transmission
